bought this aluminum service jack @ Cosco in Melbourne...

paid $179, does anyone has seen this brand before? made in china, but looks good.

I was thinking of grabbing one of these.

Have you opened the box?

My worry is that there wont be enough clearance to start pumping the bloody thing properly at first, even if it does fit under my car (had this issue on another jack).

If your car is lowered please try it out and tell us how it goes.

i did open the box... looks high quality as you can see from their display!

didn't try it yet and my car isn't lowered...

the last time i wanted to jack up my car i have to use like the jack which came with the car, which JUST fits, then jack up the car a bit then use a heavy duty jack. need to get some of those ramp things

I don't bother with ramps, I just put some leftover MDF I had down and drove over it at the corner I wanted to jack, gave enough clearance.

^not a bad idea.

I just lift the guard a little, normally good for half an inch or so.

tried and tested...

as i said my car is not lowered, jack went tru the front just touching the plastic under neat and i was able to raised the front of the car from factory centre jacking area.

i was looking for this sort of jack for a while, found 1 in burson but steel and cost $349, ebay... aluminum is around $400.

imo... this is a good garage jack!

Those ramp things are the fantastic... but only if they have the extensions for lower cars.

I have no chance of driving up the normal ramps without damaging the front bar.
