Hey guyz, im a newbie in tyres so i just wanted to know about what the profile means and like what sizes tyres can fit onto my rim.. Im currently using 235/35/17 on my rims now...

The other day when i went to buy some used tyres the guy gave me the same profile which is 235/35/17 for my Rims.. I would like to know what sizes can i use and which are better...

235 = nominal tread width (mm)

35 = sidewall height as a % of the tread width

17 = wheel diameter in inches.

a 35 profile seems too small for a 17" rim, more commonly 45 profile.

235/45/17 also happens to be the cheapest size for most performance tyres I found when i did the ring around recently... for a street car I highly recommend Bridgestone RE001's, or Kumho KU36 from option1garage.com.au if on a tight budget.

That means i can even use a 255/45/17 tyre onto my rim rite?? And the width and the height of the tyre will be more.. but will it have more grip or more thread?

And it doesnt matter if i use other size tyres as long as its for 17 inch rim rite?

u could, but i wouldnt reccomend it. 45% of 255 is too large sidewall height for 17's with our cars. a 40 profile would be better.

as far as wifth, it's impossible to tell you without knowing the width of your wheel.

read this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Wh...de-t216654.html

and this: http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp?type=tires_general#sizing

That was helpful thnx man.. So wat wud u say is the best size for my 17inch rim, btw its a r34 gtt...

Wats like the biggest and smallest size i can use also...

read what we've said and the links that have been posted.

without knowing the wheel width it is impossible to tell u. either go to a tyre shop and pay them to do it all for you, or spend your time educating urself so u know what to do.

    • My son recently purchased a 93 Skyline GTS25 (NA), I am hoping to get some insight as to what potential this car has.  I have auto mechanical experience, and I am capable of working on this vehicle, but I know nothing about it.  Where's the best site to purchase parts (maintenance, repair, upgrades)? What kind of upgrades are available?  Thanks again and I look forward to any information that you all have to offer!   Darrick
    • This is a pump I have used in the past; no oil ever leaks or gets past the regulator plug.I was trying to understand what caused Nissan to not only mention it in their manuals but to also state it's a replacement part yet the part cannot be found on my pump or on any new pumps and there doesn't seem to have ever been a replacement part#.  First time I've noticed something strange like this from NIssan.
    • yeah I have brown peeking out from in between some metal sheets close to the hood hinges. Strut towers look fine, even around the edges. some images https://imgur.com/a/brGt3Tu the one that looks the worst is the panel(s) going away right near the firewall on the passenger side, from underneath. Driver side does not look that bad.
    • I presume you are talking about a C34? Have you seen the buyers guide? https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/92065-buyers-guide-the-nissan-c34-stagea/ It's what got me to sign up to the forums when I bought mine. What kind of insight are you after? Up front I'd probably suggest to not get tempted by the poverty-spec models. I can't imagine a RB20DE to be engaging to drive in a 1600kg car.
