Hi all,

Ive got a series 2 r33 gtst running with an rb20 remapped ecu. My AAC has been disconnected (was like that when i got it) ive been told this doesnt work with the remapped ecu and is the cause of my idle hunting issues...so was wondering if was one can offer any advice or at least confirm that this is true.

Cheers,

Lucas.

Thanks for the responses guys :(

So am i right in saying, basically the short answer is the R32 ecu that i have will give me fail idle unless i get a new Z32 ecu remapped to work with R33? How much is something like that going to cost me?

cheers,

Lucas.

The AAC does work with Remap but as you have R32 ECU you have no VVT , Ive seen some Dodgy Perth tuners ground the VVT so its on full time causing shit Idle and lack top end power. R33s need to use Z32 ECUs with remap.

DOn't waste your time with a Z32 ECU, or even RB20DET ecus

You can buy nistune off their website, nisstune.com it's $440 for R33 ECUs, solder yourself or pay a sparky to do it

thats not nistune, its a remap.

from the nistune website-

Note ECR33 RB25DET Skyline can use Z32 VG30DETT ECU with minor wire swapover

We are thinknig about doing a board for R33 RB25DE/RB25DET but it involves a fair amount of work, and the parts to interface with the existing 84 pin MCU on this ECU. It is a very difficult board to get started on and requires whole new firmware code to be implemented, whilst supporting customers with our existing product line. I will start drafting schematics once Type 5 has been finished and we have got the knock sensing functionality working.

If you are looking for something to get these going then we suggest either using a HCR32 Skyline or Z32 300ZX ECU with a Type 2 board. See our FAQ topics for more information regarding these ECUs.

Your other option, if you really want to use the R33 ECU is to use an emulator with an expensive third party daughter board (pictured above) available from Sam at

www.drdrift.com.au

Cheers guys, i really appreciate the help. Ill be sure to look into this further when i can afford to upgrade my current setup  but for now i guess ill just have to live with the occasional idle hunting.

Thanks again to all who gave their input.

Lucas.

with remap you have to tune every time you do new moods but nisstune can be updated all time

like others said z32 ecu for r33

If you change mods(eg;change to big turbo) you need tune again.

Its same remap and nistune.

nistune updata means change map.

If you go to tune shop for change map you have pay to each time.

nistune saling software and board.

Board is no need emulator but its same remap nissan ecu.

Im using R33 doughter board(not nistune made) and nistune softwear.

nistune is not same power fc , motec , FCONV.

Its same nissan ecu remap.

No what people are saying is that you can get a good idle with the nistune chipped ECU, you have unplugged the AAC thinking that the chiped ECU can't control i with this isn;t the case, the chipped ECU can control the AAC so plug it in and get a tuner that can do their job.

People were saying that you will lose the VTC with the rb20 32 ECU which is the case, but with the VG30 ecu you will retain the VTC. From what i have heard about the VG30 ecu's is that there are a few pins that have to be swapped though to make it work with the RB25 Loom.

your confused, you need another board that NISTUNE DONT sell, but you can use thier software to to tune it. Sam @ DRDRIFT brings in his own boards and then uses nistune to map it.

Do you offer a similar service for rb25det or z32 ecu Trent?

Looking to trailer my car to you when the motor build is finished

Im happy to do the Z32 ecu swap but personally i dont use the high cost r33 boards ( i just use PFC, LINK or HALTECH etc)

Sam @ DRDRiFT is the only reputable shop using the R33 boards, im sure he keeps good stock if you need to go that route.

Are these any z32 ecus? does it matter if its from an auto/manual/turbo/non-turbo? from any particular year?

thanks
