Correction,

as my french is crap it appear the supplier is having problems getting the new shafts heat treated, but has arranged for a set off one of his 7 GTSR to make their way here so we can start testing next week.........

Ok First drive around warehouse has taken place last night. Car has only had a very basic alinement done by eye as we needed to get it out and run around for a while before it hits the dyno on thursday.

Have to say when sitting in the car you get the impression of being in a huge car as you sit so far back. But it is misleading as, although limited distance / speed travel so far, it gives the feel of a very nimble car. Has great turn in and instant responce to steering input, which is a great plus for our driving styles. Which will only get better with a proper alinement done on the car tonight as well as corner weights.

Engine has a crap tune in it at the minute, just enough to run it around to get temp into the car and check all the systems before the dnyo session. So its a bit of a mule below 1800rpm coughs and spits etc. But does come cleaner after that.....and thats about the right time to grab hold real tight of the steering wheel as the torque has just arrived as a uninvited rush...or earthquake depending on how brave you are with throttle input. I have worked out a formula for this.

1100kg + 720 Nm + 510hp = :-)

car was corner weighted last night and surprise surprise its was, with a bit of fiddling we got the front 50 /50 split, rear 50 / 50 split and cross weights 50 /50.

At that it should be a very well balanced car! All that time weighting batteries etc and mounting them on the passenger side has paid off.

Also found my alinement by eye resulted in about 22mm of toe out on front and 19mm of toe in on rear which explains why it was a wee bit ropey to drive the other night :-) Much better now!

We are trying something different for gauges at this point in time have mounted a tablet computer as the dash which has a USB data modem connecting to a third party server and a pit based laptop. This way we have a basic form of telemetry with the car sending back real time engine and car parametres 4 times a second. Gets its first test on circuit this weekend wish us luck.

First track session with it last night and although a split line on one of the drive line coolers stopped us at about 40 minuts in.

I really dont know how to explain what its like to drive something like this! its not over powerfull as its pushing out less HP than the GTR but it is just so much faster the speed you carry through corners is hard to imagine! Such a well balanced car at 25% weight within 1 kg on all 4 wheels makes it very quick and thats was just our first time driving the car and it was over 4 seconds faster than the GTR. Plenty more improvement to follow.

Car has been checked over and it wasnt a split hose as first thought but the drain plug on the diff came loose, which has now been lock wired.

Everything else seems to be ok no real issues to deal with apart from very small fuel leak from an o-ring the car was good to go.

No idea just how good or old these tyres are as they are what the car arrived on so new Dunlops this weekend 310 x 710 x 18 rears and 285 x 650 x 18 for the front. A small adjustment to the front toe reduction from 2mm toe out to 1mm will remove the slight over steer.

But i have to say it is all we expected! We are so much quicker than last year already ( as are the other teams ) but we had a self imposed rev limit of 5000 which was resulting in a few extra gear changes that will not be needed with the 6100 limit for the race weekend.

Still no matter how it performs this weekend against brand new FIA GT3 cars it has been a feat to get it completed in 8 weeks considering this is what arrived at our workshop on the 9 of August

I can see how it would be but i guess i am lucky in the sense that all cars in the UAE are left hookers. So been sitting on that side for quite a few years now. But i have to admit the turbo porker did have quite a few spirted runs in the weeks leading up to the first round. And thats an old porker with a real gear stick!

Sadly we will not make the second round as we have hit 2 issues, firstly the new Quaife G69 gearbox requires a much smaller diametre clutch to be used and as box only arrived on friday that isnt going to hapen before thursday. Also he new diff gear set to suit the squential box has shown up with 7/16 bolt holes rather than the 3/8 that our carrier is.

So have thought about it and would rather have it tested before trying to race so going to sit this one out and watch the ferrari 430, calloway Z06, ACR viper, GT3 super cup and DB9RS battle it out before we wade in on the 4/12/09

Oh Chris, she is beautiful and a real credit to you and the crew who built her.....

Whish you guys all the best with her and hope the juice was worth the squeeze, which it no doubt will be.

If ever you need mechanic please call me.......im enthusiastic and will travel. Just require divorce first lol.

Ohh no mate we made the first round! not without issues but we made it. LOL was a laugh considering we only had 2 gear changes per lap due to 3rd gear not working, still finished 7th out of 17 so not so bad.

The crew are quite chuffed considering it was only the purchased parts that let us down.

Big old thank you to Steve Bijok and Heltec, Captain Blair Brownlee, Bernard B Bear Mclintock, Julian, Big Fred who has about the most impressive collection of cars i have every heard about and Jon from DXB racing ( who by the way are our competitors with another ACR viper but helped us out more times than i can count in true spirt of club racers ) and the crew from Axis for the body work and for putting up with me grumpin around telling every one to say away while i wired it. ohh and nearly forgot Spence and missus Spence for corrupting Spanna the work shop dog and turning him into a sooky lar lar with their sauage rolls and home made sangers.

And its 8.3 litre and spins to 6200 :-) you would not believe what its like to drive very different to the old girl. Surprisingly it really wants to make more power at the red line, last 2000 rpm it just launches and sitting between the exhausts it sounds like its doing about 19,000 rpm enough to make your ears bleed!

But man are they a tough old engine we broke a piston ring land on the practice before the race meeting it was about 60mm long and 20mm wide and the compression ring due to the intake temp we think as it was stupidly high. But we have changed the entire ducting for radiator discharge so hope that will correct that. But hats off to the old girl we turned the the rpm down to 5600 using 4th and fifth gear and still put it on p4 only 1.5 second off the new calloway corvette. Removed the head to check before the 45 minute race, which was less than an hour from start to finish and it was still hanging in there. And the result you know even as i said with 2 gears and 9 pistons lol.

look out when the sequential gearbox is fitted and we have a true 450 rwhp and 800 odd nm of torque. Then we will play.
