As some of you guys know, im saving up for a car (in which will be most likely a skyline) R33 or similar.

The only problem is ive never ever seen a place that lets you drive nissan skylines of the R3 series, you can drive those shitty 350GTs but im not interested in them :P

In saying that im only 18, on Green Ps, drive the family's Honda Accord (no matter how hard you try u cant fish tail it - not even wet weather :( ), and ive only ever been in one mate's skyline.

But in itself i doubt many people would let an 18yr old in the seat of their 25k+ skyline. so i was wondering is it pheasible (possible) to tag along on a cruise or something? let me see, hear and ride a few skylines!!! ill chip in for fuel too :P

..... LOL

Sorry, but mentioning that you have tried to fishtail your family's Accord won't help. Once you get as far as buying one, whats to say you arent going to be a twat in it anyway?

On top of the fact its k, about half of that again in insurance, etc.

No offense dude, but you look like bad news from this post, and I won't be suprised if this gets a lock.

what im saying about the accord is its rate of excelleration is cr@p (0-100KM/h in 45 SECONDS!!!! YAY!!!!!)... with ASC turned off i still cant get it to do crap all, which is why i want a skyline but i dont know which one because i havent been able to 'try' or really 'know' a skyline too well

police are targetting performance cars. while im doing my best to fish tail or drift a roundabout in the family's honda accord, the police would be more interested in a performance car, who could very well NOT be hooning or attempting to hoon. To WA police, a performance car is pretty much like walking through an airport with wires sticking out of a jacket

You're digging yourself a hole and only proving yourself to be the exact kind of material that ends HPV driver's in shit!

Beleive it or not - 99% of Skyline drivers here DO NOT use their vehicles the way you seem to think so. Nobody here is a street racer / drifter, and constantly demonstrates how theyre Skyline compares to a Honda Accord. I think you've seen a bit too much Fast & Furious.

I'm going to suggest you stick to the Accord, if you survive, wait until you're more grown up, enough to drive a Skyline nicely, and not give other Skyline driver's an even worse image.

yeh but have you ever done it before?

*sigh*...

L/Tc, skids, slide, drift, standing... ect....

i think your taking me the wrong way (the whole "while im trying to do a fishtail) explanation doesnt mean im trying 24/7, i was just trying to compare the stereotype of what a honda vs skyline would be doing on a road at night. (i gained that stereotype from the skylines i see in OSB park, all trash except a red GTS33.)

after doing the ADv/C1 and C2 courses i find it fun to handle a car, and, im not/dont see myself trashing, skidding at every turn of my driving. no way.

i want a perf car so i can do the odd turn, but to my satisfaction. if i wanted to appear like a wanker, with almost no money, a bad attitute and f/a knowledge on perf cars i would have joined the "holden commodore with broken tail light in balga" forums :(

:( Everyone EXCEPT for a 33 GTS.... ok no more speaking for you.

Buying a Skyline for even the odd corner is still going to be frowned upon around here. In a few hours the rest of this forum is going to wakeup, have some breakfast, jump on here and give you a royal bashing. It only takes one corner for another police statistic and a Today Tonight story about how one more got caught, 30 lives were saved and the rest of us need our cars crushed as well.

For the record, yeah I've done the odd skid, no comment, and to be honest, on the street, its soo f**king boring. You cant do it with other cars around, or with any passengers (well, certain f**kheads will but I certainly never would), and you can only take 90 degrees soo fast before something like Barbagallo is what you want. I'm someone that gets bored of something as soon as I've got it down pat, so skids and being a c**t-rocket on the street isnt something I'm up for. I've got nobody to impress and no skill to push.

I've got nobody to impress and no skill to push.

yeh, personal satisfaction . and i sure as hell wouldnt dare do it with a passanger or with other cars around, i couldn't really care much if it was a police car, but if i had lost control and caused an accident, i could be living with more than a dent in my car. and for me its certainly not a show off thing either. owning a performance car comes with its responsibilities and im very aware of them

but here comes the rant of preference. if none of you guys (speaking on the 99% of nick's behalf) are into, or like trashing, skidding ect... why have you all got nissan skylines? why not just get honda accords like me and my family?

christ we pulled this off topic

all i want to know is if its possible to get a ride in / see a few skylines so i know what would be best for me before i blow all my money on one

So why do people buy Porche 911s and Bugatti Veyrons?

If you want to take a Skyline for a ride simply to see how well it does "just one, PLZ!!??" skid in a corner, no, nobody is going to give you control of $30k worth of God's fine tuned machinery for that purpose, but hey, what would I know ??

I'm sure somebody on here will let you take their Skyline for a spin.

Anyone?

goodness no, as stated first post i dont want to be the one driving, and thats not what im focusing on - im more for performance and reliability ect

as for the porches and BVs, well its the rich who ride the name further than the car.

ayeyeye..

i think you may be getting the wrong impression

bottom line is for me, hooning... not so much thanks. can live without cop bait

i mean - this accord cannot do anything at all. its due time for a new skyline and im a fan of and been interested in skylines... which is most likely why i joined these forums...

nissan skyline it most likely will be (95% sure) and i would just like to be able to see more skylines...

simple.

none of the extra prps hooning stuff

[oh whoopsies double post,, sowwy]

Because I wanted a skyline & not a Camry like family sedan?

My mum is looking at buying a BMW M3 or a Mercedes C63 AMG, & those are even faster than your standard GTS-T but she's not buying it for trashing or burn outs. Same principle really.

Its all about the STYLE, gentlemen :(

THATS IT!

the name nissan and the classic skyline lights (at the rear) is what ive fallen in love with - right from the 80's models when those lights looked sooo retro! love em!

yeah, ive seen an M325, christ they can fly, and non turbo aswell

hell i wouldnt mind an M3 myself, but i dont have a spare $59,000 - but even an engine upgrade costs over $25,000 and thats second hand :P

Your mum must be loaded - the C63 AMG's are worth $200K+ brand new...my old man wants to buy one, ha

And as for the newbie here talking about burnouts etc in a skyline, its not a great way to be respected amongst the SAU community saying u want one for that reason....

Well kiddo, that simple admission of your acid test for cars (the accord that can't do anything, so to speak) being an activity that ends up making import owners look ridiculous, which is funny because the irony is that it is the person, not the car that makes the fool. Seriously though, I'd say stick to lower powered cars until that urge goes away, then if you still want a car as nicely engineered as the skylines, then have a proper look.

I just don't want more of these stories popping up, it just makes me facepalm :(

hey everyone, i recently went to court for driving chargers and the judge found me guilty and seized my Skyline R34 indefently. In 28 days (14 left now) they will come and pick it up. I was just wondering what the law states about my car, as in if i to remove my body kit and other parts will i be breaking the law? Thanks for all your help,

P-plater who got done for driving without a license 6 times with a R34 GTT (in his state turbos aren't allowed for P's). Sigh.... Look at the first few posts, the stigma is already there, skyline = idiot driving.

To answer your questions though, I guess people wouldn't mind if you're riding as a passenger, although I'd think you'll need to clear up this misunderstanding about your attitude towards driving habits before most on these forums would encourage you towards skylines.

Whats wrong with 350GTs. They are in fact faster than a R33 stock for stock. But it does seem like your attitude towards the skyline is full appreciated. And why are you trying to fish tail a Accord in wet weather and then admitting it on a public forum. As for test driving a nissan skyline, im sure if you went with your parents to a dealer they would be more than happy to give you a ride.

You have completely dug yourself a hole mate.

You sound like a f**king idiot, think about what you say before you say it. Unlike real life you have as much time as you want to plot out what you want to share here.

And sharing your mal intentions that you want to achieve with a skyline isn't going to go well down with a club that values good, respectable and responsible driving on the streets and promotes using HPV on the track.

Theres a place and a time for a reason, and i doubt anyone would want to sell their skyline to someone that has shown signs of a hoon mind.

Man to be honest before i brought my skyline i was just like you, 18, wanted to be the next drift king/go crazy fast hyped up on f.a.t.f. but since i got my license and my R33 my whole attitude changed. now im just glad i have one i respect the car for the icon that it is, seriously dude like take a long think about it if you wanna go out and be a total fruit loop dont buy a skyline cause if/when you do eventually smack a curb/pole/tree/car you can say goodbye to your skyline coz you wont be able to aford to repair it, parts are crazy prices (trust me i work at nissan) and in the end its just not worth it.

but if you are set on a skyline then atleast dont do stupid shit on the roads, take it to the tracks or somthing. and remember, everytime you do a dounut/drift/standstill, its doing your engine/various other parts damage by putting them under excessive load. in the end its your wallet thats going to suffer so my advice to you is if you get one, look after it.

just my 2cents.
