i want a perf car so i can do the odd turn, but to my satisfaction. if i wanted to appear like a wanker, with almost no money, a bad attitute and f/a knowledge on perf cars i would have joined the "holden commodore with broken tail light in balga" forums :(

LOL nice one.

Still you shouldn't be talking about 'doing the odd turn'...it's not big or clever. My advice - drive the accord for a few more years and get some road maturity. Don't become a stat.

FWD drift action in the accord? anyway, it's very easy to get the accord to understeer at least, maybe when you do that into the curb you'll think twice :(

If you want an R33, consider a non turbo version at least so you only injure rather than kill yourself when it's winter.

I think you should learn from a lower power car about car control, consider an AE86 if you want RWD goodness, and learn it on the track, not on the roads. Wheelspin = loss of licence on the roads.

Take mums accord to a skidpan/driver training event

Srsly, even if you dont want to enter one (hell, I take my near stock NA Pulsar along and still manage to have the most fun I ever had with my pants done up) turn up, TALK to some of the owners and watch them on the track. From your OP I would suggest that turning up, asking some questions face to face and (and this is the bit alot of young blokes miss) listen to the replies! and you may just learn somethings, and maybe cadge a ride in one. Asking someone you have never met, over a public forum, to allow a self confessed hoon to ride shotgun isnt gonna work

Oh, and I may have lied a little bit - my pants may/may not have been done up at the last track day :(

i pity the FOOOOL!!! :( hahahah...

but seriously.. imo... i think that you should stay with the accord.. or like others said. buy something N/A! and whatever you do.. save your drifting and skids for track days!

i have an r33 gts25t with mild upgrades.. and its very powerful! but i have built it up over time and have gotton somewhat used to the power!! we are always learning!

if you do stuff on the streets.. it will only be a matter of time before you lose control! wet roads, oil slicks, bad judgement, Stupidity!!

it may seem like we are all 'picking' on you.. but we truely dont want to see another young guy become another statistic!! AND.. see another totalled car that we all LOVE!!

Your mum must be loaded - the C63 AMG's are worth $200K+ brand new...my old man wants to buy one, ha

Its an Asian + doctor thing. She must get either a Beemer or Merc, otherwise she will lose "face" as a doctor.

She was originally set on getting some "cheapo" 318 Beemer, like most of her friends have, until I told her "well you not gonna get much 'face' driving around in a cheapo Beemer! Get one of those if you want the 'face' value."

The other ones she looked at were the 7 series & S class, but man those cars are massive!

I just don't want more of these stories popping up, it just makes me facepalm

P-plater who got done for driving without a license 6 times with a R34 GTT (in his state turbos aren't allowed for P's). Sigh.... Look at the first few posts, the stigma is already there, skyline = idiot driving.

Oh dear god!

Not that thread again :(

All the nerds on whirlpool wanted the car crushed... I feel bad for the car. Should have given it to me instead.

Maybe a non turbo AND a 4 wheel drive, but seing as that combinatin isnt out there (I can think of some R32 Autech Ed.s that were AWD N/A RB26s - only 250 made)

We're not bashing you for the fun of it mate, we're suggesting you dont buy a Skyline for not only your safety, but more importantly...another Skyline off the roads would suck (even if it was an R33 GTST)! This would only create another number, another Today Tonight / A Current Affair story and another loophole for HPV drivers to worry about.

Whats wrong with 350GTs. They are in fact faster than a R33 stock for stock. But it does seem like your attitude towards the skyline is full appreciated. And why are you trying to fish tail a Accord in wet weather and then admitting it on a public forum. As for test driving a nissan skyline, im sure if you went with your parents to a dealer they would be more than happy to give you a ride.

i dont like the look of the 350s, im after a combination of looks and power (as most people are) and to be honest the new 350gts look like a stuffed up mitsubishi, im talking about the ones without the retro rear lights

i dont always try, the very first time i ever tried to do it was straight after the TEE, last exam i was done and happier then ever, and just felt on top of the world. on my street i saw a ford pull a fish on the corner and i thought that looks like fun but i couldnt do it. but its not the hooning thing that calls for a skyline, for example in traffic, i cant go between 2 cars (at about 60km/h) if they are less than 120m appart, the car just cant pick up that fast which ads a good 15 mins to trip to and from uni.

i think everyone / or i have said it the wrong way, im not going to be 100% trashing and/or skidding in my skyline, i respect a nissan SKyl as a performance car more than a trash heap holden, and if i was in the mind set for serious trashing and crap i would seriously just get a holden or ford because - *sigh* - when i do get my first car the whole wave of responsibility will surely arrive, and it pretty much has, sinse about june and now i havent tried to do anything with the accord (because i know it cant) and i know its not my car, and if it was my car i wouldnt be doing it 24/7.

i did the advanced courses 1 and 2 (3 months each) on extreme handling (how do deal with break failure, and actually put it in practise, what to do if steering doesnt respond ect..) - in a manual suzuki swift, that was fun..... but im not a junky for the skids. but i would like to find out more about these events? would they be in SAU news?

that is exactly where you shot yourself in the foot junior..

well i should elaborate on that, its excelleration is terrible with the traffic and 2 cars thing, the handling is very subborn and (its auto) it changes gears waaaay too early @@@ which is half of it's acceleration issue

Like ive said many times since the first flame, im not a junky for these things, i just want to get moar experience with skylines in practical, i mean ive been in my cousins car and driven it (to drop off and pick up at the airport), a BMW M535, thats fkn powerful, but the urge to odd skid in that isnt there, and also im to scared to do it. and i guess what i mean about this accord not doing anything is not for the 'hoon' stuff, but more or less a car that can actually drive! hence me a skyline

It's like that in the US...expensive euro cars like BMW, Audi, Merc have this 'prestige' factor.

The only thing greater than their prestige is the dent your wallet takes to service or repair them.

Quality cars of course but not my cup of tea.

aslong as your not doing anything stupid  you wont need to have them repaired or serviced as freequently, i mean my cuz's 535 is old, 91 or something and it serviced every 4-6 months. reliable little bugger with only battery and light changes and i think i radio swap, with about uhh 250,000 clocked in its got another 250 to go :)

So you also want to weave in and out of traffic?

Mate, why are you driving the family's accord? You havent bought a car yet?

Trust me, you do NOT want a Skyline as your first car, beause of : the cost, insurance, maintainence, etc

Im guessing your about 18, you're still on your Ps....even third party insurance for you would be a massive figure - Im also guessing you dont have a decent amount saved up, so you'd need full insurance as long as your paying the car off.

Just because you did some course, that doesnt mean you are a drift king and weaving in and out of traffic to get to uni in 12 minutes instead of 15 minutes is any safer. Contest with that your choice of driving style, a cop is likely to pull you up and uni will be 25 minutes away instead of 15. Maybe you wont lose alot of traction in it, instead you might thrash the shit out of it and be in need of an engine rebuild.

Skylines arent cheap, theyre a bitch to insure, especially if your young, registration is higher, then they suck more money out of your wallet (hence full time work or being a part time hooker is about the only way to afford one), and yeah, if you wrap it around a tree, you dont get a refund.

In your shoes, buying a Skyline has absolutely no pro's at all, its all con's. Can you afford repayments and running costs while you're at uni?

I'm just going to answer the guys first post and skip the rest.

to test drive a skyline?, look at one your willing to buy, let the owner take you for a spin, if you like it, drop a deposit then you'll most likely be able to take it for a lap..my friend sold his skyline without even letting the buyer take it for a spin.

main point here is, who here has the right to tell him his a hoon? who hasn't done stupid shit on the road? dont be a hypocrite, we've all had our fair share of runs, flooring it in the back roads, kicking it out abit.

who said anything about weaving in and out of traffic? im talking about the accord going from stationary to moving (at like a T or + intersection), and if some coot is speeding i cant get out of the way. umm and im sure i can afford the costs with a skyline, otherwise id be going cheap us or chinese cars...

and i know making the courses made me a better driver, but not a better 'stunt puller', and i think we've learned through this thread and my past experiences its not th way to go, all be it with a skyline or ford ect...

the sarcasm is overflowing here.

No sarcasm.

You said getting between 2 cars isnt posible unless theyre 120 metres apart because of your Accord's performance.

Funny you bring up the cliche of Ford and Holdens then link to that forum. Does it HAVE to be a Skyline? or a RWD turbo manual ?

well id like a skyline because i adore their look, their sound and their performance over reliability

but ill take someones advice, is to buy a non turbo say R32 or 33 with stock everything

and as i get more confident as a 'good' driver then ill consider upgrades, then again if a stock skyline is enough power for cruise speeds and metro driving then it wont need to be upgraded

that or i should buy a ford and put the skyline body on that
