Schaeffer Oil

Hi guys

Ive been contemplating using Schaeffer oil in my car for a while now but haven't seen anyone here that uses it, i am sure many haven't even heard of it.

I've seen the "bearing test" performed with it and was quite impressed where it out performed many top brands.

I know by no means i should base my decision entirely on this as this bearing test probably just covers one property of the oil, so can u oil gurus check it out and tell me what u think.

I have been using Redline in my cars and i notice after a while a little disappears ie. in the Rb26 and also the Qg15.... and mind u, the Schaeffer is more expensive than the Redline!

I've used hi-tec (local aussie brand) and now Motul 300V in my R34 ... can't tell a difference. Just get the right viscosity oil and change is regularly. Oils are oils imho.. the rest is just marketing.

its fine and well to be buying the best quality oil and the most expensive oil but you should be asking, what is the correct grade of oil, how often do i change it, how i drive track/street, do i need to overfill fill it........(RB cheap fix). the oil debate will go on until we run out. i have a 80pg book about motor oil on my computer. it a well worth read. What car are you putting this oil in to give everyone an idea as to what recommend. As person above ^^^

If you don't mind me asking, how much does it costs per oil change do put the Shaeffer oil in? and where do you source it?

If its the bearing test i'm thinking of, it has been largely discredited and shouldnt be used as a basis for making an oil choice. From the data i've seen the Redline is damn good, so unless you have a credible source showing its better than the Redline, i'd say stay with what you have. Especially seeing as how the Redline is already super expensive. How much does a fill cost you?

Like i said, i do not want to base my decision to use Schaeffer solely on the results of the "bearing test" because i know that will be totally inaccurate.....

Thats why i need u guys to check it out as i don't know shit when it comes to the specs when dealing with oil!!! I use Redline because it is highly recommended here, the only problem is that a little disappears after a while and this is with absolutely no blowby on a healthy engine.

Redline cost me about $66 (5qts)

Schaffer cost me about $82 (5qts)

I think in the oils sticky, someone mentioned a Used Oil Analysis (UOA) kit that you can buy.

Personally I use German Castrol (GC) and switched to Amsoil recently, might switch back to GC again, its only 0w30 but its a thick 0w30 so closer to Mobil 1's 0w40.

If you really need to do oil research Bob is the oil guy (the forum) is very useful.

Sorry I should not have used the word "thick", it breaks down less easily than most 0w30's
