I got a white hr30 coupe ironmask front, engineered rb20det with mods!

Ive been debating if im going to sell it or not i got a defect notice a while ago haven't got it cleared so its just sitting there. It developed a rattle in the engine so ive been apprehensive about fixing these issues for the roadworthy, knowing my luck ill fix it then the engine will go pop! Im in the process of getting a gtr anyway so its not going to be driven, till i get some time to spend some real money on it and fix it up!

In saying that though these cars just arn't getting what value i think there worth, personally i wouldn't even consider selling it for less than 5 grand if i couldn't get that i rather have it backyard as a decoration!

cheers

Brendan

Brendan,

What are the mods and why was it defected.

How difficult will it be get it roadworthy and if so, how hard is it to get a 28 day permit so it could be driven interstate.

Cheers, D

Hey D

I got a defect for a brake light out, gearknob loose, handbrake too many clicks, blowing visable oil smoke, blow off valve. Got pulled up by a arsehole cop, pulled out of a carpark and because she was cold she was running rich so bit of black smoke came out the back of the car, he pulled me up called me a f%^king dickhead doing burnouts (his words exaclty) which i wasn't, i said to him he was unproffesional about his job and i didn't appreciate being spoken to in a unsavory manner, then i explained what he saw. Didn't sit to well with him so he gave me a defect the rat!

Besides that the Body is straight besides a tiny ding on drivers door, the problems with the car are in the driveline the imput shaft to the diff is cracked, left inner cv is work, the horn doesn't work, the rear shocks need attension, i had s13 coils in rear but one of them is rooted so i took them out and replaced them with the originals and cut the springs down, the diff has been welded, the 2nd gear syncros are shot, the engine has a bearing rattle and missing top window mould, drivers mirror loose.

As for the mods its got the rb20det, highflow turbo, link aftermarket computer, supra intercooler, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, 16 inch alloy wheels, lowered front end ironmask front, also has r34 driver and passenger seats, i have the original seats and original dr30 ironmask wheels.

Thats about it i think ill get some pics and post them for you too

cheers

Brendan

I'm considering selling my DR30 as I got offered a collectible R31 and now have no room

Spent 10 months working on it after importing from Japan.

Just been licensed and is in very good condition

Owes me more than the $14k I'm going to ask

That is the right sort of money to be asking. I have someone looking at mine on Saturday and he knows that is roughly the price I want for mine and he is still keen. The only stumbling block could be his finance.

cheers

This is in south australia,

could be a fun drive home;

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-DR30-SKYLINE...id=p3286.c0.m14

:) That thing was for sale as a rolling shell many years ago, I went and looked at it with a mate the day it was in the trader and my mate put a deposit on it. When we went to pick it up that weekend we got there to find that the wanker had sold it to someone else, quite obviously because the other person had offered more money but the guy insisted that his brother had sold it when he was at work. Quite angry about that one :D:)

My mate ended up with an absolute pig of a shell which he managed to scrub up pretty well

A collectable R31 eh????????????????????????????

Have to be a GTSII or an HR31GTS/R, but no matter what, your gunna regret it as soon as you do.

Rent a shed and store one of them.

Could be a company investment and a tax write off if ya play it right.

Cheers, D

Hi Dennis

Well I think it could be a collectible

It's a GTS II

I said to the owner if he ever sold could he let me know first.

So He did 17 years later.

i bought it sight unseen from QLD and it is sitting in my garage now (trouble is I'm in Hawaii after a months holiday)

I don't get to see it till Thursday but friends and family who have seen it say it is like a new car :-)

1 owner

100,000kms with logbooks

UNTOUCHED

And as you know there were only 200 numbered ones produced

This is # 001 :-)

And yeah might keep the DR as there is a Classic Rally coming up in November

Marc,

You would want to get some paint protection on that really, really fast and as it's #01, lock it away for ever.

DR's in Japan, when I was searching through the auctions last night are averaging AU$11500.00 starting bid and I found a PNV coupe with an AU$15000.00 price tag and that's in Japan, no freight, customs, compliance etc etc etc on it to get it here.

Makes me more convinced that the good ones we have here have to be held on to.

Cheers, D

    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
