Blue badges are on turbo's too, i've got a gts4, my second, both have turbo's, and they both have blue badges.

I think its more likely a 4WD - 2WD thing

I think it's got to do with gay factor.

Blue badges are gay homo fags

Red badges are queer

Debadged (like my GTR) is more manly than a 1920's boxing match.

Might be the case on the 32's but on the R33 red definitely means turbo and blue definitely means non-turbo. If you find an R33 that doesn't match that pattern, then the badges have been changed by the owner.
