actually there are some interesting interpretations of rules here and plenty of cars making plenty of power....but I guess that's AASA for you.

personally I'd rather have 1 set of rules to work to.

i've been looking at some pics of the event, what's with the rx7 with the re-amera (or however rotor people spell it) catalouge on it. Is cattlins old yellow mustang up there?

haha yeah girl style launching is the order of the weekend. those dunlops have good grip and wont spin when I drop it at 5. And last time I dropped it at 7 I lost the clutch for the next 10 min which would be very inconvenient up the hill.

on the other hand I am trying to add a touch of hollywood when arriving at the turn at the clock tower. "if you cant go fast....look good!"

Hmmm.... weekend was good I think.

The Tour = funny when the "pace car" is Matt Close in his 996TT Targa car.......

Probably was the best value / car time event I've ever done. And I was drunk by 3pm every day! LOL

Can you confirm the entry cost's for the touring group?

I read somewhere it was $350 per entrant? (but i coudl be wrong)

if that's correct, the value for money is outstanding! were there only 30 spots?

I can imagine it would be hard to get into that 30...

how many "tours" did you get?

I "heard" the event is secure for 2 more years, I want in on the tour next year!!! even if it's in a bunky s13 it's still got to be enormous fun to be able to use the whole road...

The Tour was $350 (and you can bring passengers at no extra cost)

We got to do the Prologue on Friday, and then a run the first thing in the morning and again straight after lunch on both Saturday and Sunday.

So thats 5 runs (the race guys did 11) and it only cost 1/10th of the race fee. It was limitted to 30 cars but we only had 18 this year (although I think those of us on the balcony at Uncle Pats each afternoon did a good job of promoting the Tour to everyone for future events!)

And if some of the concepts Mr Benson was telling me on Thursday night come to play then the future of this event will only get stronger (and Peter W. told me on Sunday afternoon that Lake Mountain has some "secret suprises in store for everyone" as well which I'm curious on I must say!)

But the Tour was great. I'd recommend it to anyone that can't make the racing start line but wants a good fun car weekend away.

The tour sounds great for $350. I'll definitely be in next year if it's an option. :P

Yeah tour was good fun to be able to safely drive on the right hand side of the road and know your not going to come head to head with oncoming traffic.

Duncan i have a video of you at the start line on Saturday morning some time, didn't look like your best start from the few i saw but was a hell of a lot quicker than some of the rwd cars like the mustang and GTHO's who struggled for traction until the 60km sign. Weekend was good until 3-1/2 hours into the drive home. Dad was driving and noticed a wobble in the steering wheel, "dad we should pull over and check the wheel nuts" "yeah probably should". Half an hour later he overtook a truck doing a bit more than 110km/h when the car dropped down on the front drivers side and all 5 studs snapped off. Luckily the wheel managed to stay inside the guard and ran on the disc until it came to a stop.

Ended up staying with the car for 17 hours while dad hitched back to Syd, picked up new studs and came back with the tools. :P

Anyway will be there next year to compete in the sprint :D and at Lake Mt next year (which they are thinking about running a touring stage for, email the guys at mt motorsport if you are interested.

^^^ Still a little bit of fine tuning needed for the box/shifter I see, but man, how farkin cool is that thing! Epic run! And excellent commited driving from YT as always.

Remember the "record run" was on a course around 3 to 400 metres shorter than other years. Would have still been a convincing record even if it was full length.

shit liam that's no good! what wheels are you running and do you have correct hub locators.

also always always use a torque wrench for your wheelnuts - over time incorrect (particularly overtight) will stretch then break the studs

Hey Duncan, running BBS somethings with 5mm slip on spacers which came with the car. The spacers that were on it were a multi 4/5 stud job and didn't have much material where it contacted the hub/wheel. All up it would be lucky if there was 10mm of thread in the nut so it came loose fairly easily.

I had the job of changing the studs to longer ones on my list but things got busy and it was pushed aside. Just finished putting longer studs in the front which are about 40mm longer than the old ones and torqued them all up to 120nm. Guess Dad and i had to learn the lesson the hard way..
