Just got it back yesterday, with cams in, adj cam gear, head gasket, trust plenum and larger turbine housing.  Have to wait until wednesday for the final verdict when it is being tuned:) Oh, and a nice all black Bride Brix went in:)

 that's gonna be one killer car

how do you keep rear wheel traction steve?

Are you comming out to mallala next sat?

Yet to be seen about traction. As the turbine housing is two sizes larger, 0.87 vs the old 0.61, the power is alot more progressive, makes quite a difference. Before I would brake traction as soon as boost comes on, like hitting NOs, now it only breaks traction above 5500-6000rpm at WOT. But the tune, and dialing in the exhaust cam gear, will tell me alot more about how the power is being delivered.

Also, I have only run 1 bar as the car wasnt tuned, so until I wind in more I wont know exactly what it will be like. The hardmount spacers teamed up with pineapples seem to be doing an excellent job. Next will be adjustable camber arms - which will enable me to dial in some positive camber, and set it up so the rear is neutral when the car is under power.

Ultimately though, its just going to be a case of keep the boost down to where traction is manageable:)

I wont be going to the track, maybe to spectate, but I am not putting my car on a track without an oilcooler - I have all the bits (cooler, take off, remote filter mount, thermostat) just got to get them fitted and mount the cooler - which wont be happening until after this weekend unfortuneatly:(

Very nice B-man! What capacity is the new sump?

Let us know how it goes once it's tuned mate.

doglet,

I organised the ceramic coating through Shaun @ 'Boost Worx'. The coating mob are located in Holden Hill, dunno' what their name is though? All up it was $440 to coat the following;

- plenum

- throttle body

- factory cross-over pipe

- IC pipes (comp outlet to IC & IC outlet to cross-over)

- custom inlet piping

- timing belt covers

- exhaust manifold / heat shield

Steve,

Thanks mate. Mine should be back in by the end of the week. Sounds like your beast just gained a lot more potential too!

Did you know the stock inlet cam gear is adjustable too?

Adjustable inlet???? please do tell:)

I would if I knew more mate? Shaun & James have both assured me the stock inlet gear has a reasonable range of adjustment. It's a pain in the arse to adjust but then so is the ext gear. I'll let you know how we go once we've tuned my car.

Thanks R33man.

There's actually quite a bit still to be finished off in the looks department. Heaps more blue hose, braided lines, Speedflow fittings & stainless allen head bolts & so on....

The work is being done by James @ Nisspeed Performance Engines in Modbury / Shaun @ Boost Worx in Panorama & some of it by myself.

The blue hose I've sourced from all over Adelaide over the last 1-2yrs. Autobarn stock it. Most decent performance workshops stock it or can order it in.

your engine looks awesome ... now you gotta be in the next autosalon and take it out!!! :D ... yep looks much different from the last time i saw it :) ... can't wait to see in real life .. thats if you'll let me ;) ... now you can put all the greddy stickers you always wanted :D

Dean,

Thanks dude. I can't wait myself!

Hip,

Thanks mate :( Hmmm... dunno' if the car is quite up to Autosalon standard, not that I'm worried if it is or not. The engine bay should look nice once it's finished though :(

Maybe I can put a huge Greddy sticker across the windscreen? It'll make driving the car much more challenging

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
