Thanks guys. The credit goes to quite a few different people, including a number on this very forum :P

knore,

The latest Microtech LT series ECU is ~$1300-1400 (rough guess here) & the LT series handset (can do programming, basic logging, real time data & 4 maps) is ~$160 I paid $145 a yr ago. The LT ECU can be tuned via laptop & is the prefered method as it allows more tuning options.

The mid range power is fantastic on the road, but it does require a bit of sensible throttle control.

Someone from Adelaide has a handset in the For Sale section ATM for $100 (used) and they are from Adelaide.

Happy spending :P

The one for sale is the MT 4 line handset (holds 2 maps). Mine is the 2 line LT (holds 4 maps)

The 4 line HS scrolls real data time across the screen, whereas the 2 line has a stationary display of selected real time data.

so why the microtech over pfc ?

We won't get into that argument, it gets ugly as people become very sensative to whatever ECU they have bought (I have Microtech and it works well). Better to do your own research ALL ECUs and make up your own mind.

There seems to eb this myth that the PFC is the be all and end all for R33s. They are just like most other programmable ECUs, with ALL having dissadvantages and advantes over each other.

Matt, great numbers and I also agree re Microtech, I asked Shaun to do a Valet map a while ago but in all honesty I could have done it myself, they are so easy to do and then save onto the next spare Memcal. I know because I accidentally overwrote Shaun's Valet map and had to do it again myself

Excellent stuff Lach ! Thanks for that. Looks like we could both do with an upgraded actuator, yes? I have an Apexi one lined up (get it tomorrow) I'm hoping it's 1.0bar rated. If that doesn't fix the drop in boost then I guess the housing &/or wastegate is the problem?

It's amazing how close each of our power curves are given the big differences in set-up!

Hurry up & do the Tomei cams so I can see if I should do them too :worship:

EDIT: Oh yeah, what's the go with using PINK for my p/curve? What are ya' trying to suggest

Knore,

I couldn't agree more with Lachlan, it really comes down to what ECU suits YOUR needs. I chose Microtech for a number of reasons. Cost, features & local support to name just a few.

Gotta alot things on my plate at present so have stalled the cam upgrade. Woudl be nice to have a look at a better exh manifold with it, so $$ start adding up.

I have 400R bar to go on next week and that is more $$ so motor stuff will wait a while.

So yeah, not sure if top end torque power drop off on mine and yours is stock exh manifold (Grepin has nice manifold), EDIT actuator spring (Grepin has HKS actuator), int wastegate design (Grepin's HKS int gate exh housing is also very nice)......good to see you're trying one. I mention Grepin's stuff due to the strong power curve right up top.

So fit and tune with Apexi actuator tomorrow?

Yeah understand re lots on plate, & $$$ adding up.

400R bar will look excellent & slightly better airflow into FMIC.

I figure that the actuator is the easiest thing to check, & the Apexi one is free so why not give it a shot. I won't know what boost its rated at till we test it though. Getting the actuator tomorrow then organise with Shaun to fit/trial. Tomorrow arvo maybe?

It may well be manifold/housing restrictions. Grepin's results seem to support this theory. Then again he has an HKS actuator! See how we go I guess.

Excellent curve plot there Freebaggin. It clearly illustrates that a rwkw figure isnt the be all end all number on which car is the fastest. IMO, the fastest car will be whatsisname's (providing he shifts ~1000rpm than the other 2 cars), even tho Greepin's car has a higher rwkw figure. Either way, all 3 cars have very nice power!

Dammit, i want a RB25DET now!!!

Here's Steve's lastest dyno run

*Note* - he has since made further changes & gained MORE power!

Noice numbers....

Matt, what turbo are you using again ? I've forgotten :)

Cheers,

Bl4ck32,

Very nice mate :) How long till the motor is ready to go?

B-man,

How much longer till we see your beast making 300++rwkw? It'd have to be ready for tuning soon wouldn't it?

My turbo is a bit of a bitsa. Garrett bush bearing T3/T4 .60 comp .64 ex. It has a big comp wheel shoved into the .60 housing & the ex wheel has been back cut. Those in the know have had a look & estimate ~450-500hp potential? Still using stock, port matched HPC coated, manifold.

Cool - nice one.

Mine had a bit of a set back - The turbo couldn't puff more than 255 rwkw - (it was a T04e comp, VG30 Exh hybrid...

Anyway yeah - HKS 3040 going on now with all associated manifolds and wastegates -

Should be ready early next week as we neeeded to get some fabrication done, flanges built, new dump pipe, etc.

Stay tuned ! :)

Some big numbers being made by the SAU SA R33 contingent, great stuff!!

We should try to get in on a private test day at AIR again, so everyone can have a few runs and get some quick timeslips to go with the dyno charts :D and do it without the pressure of a open street meet

The last one was great, and I can't wait until we get a day like that agian

There will be a couple sleeper 300rwkw R32's 'idling' around adelaide soon also.. :D

Problem is I need a stock RB flywheel so Andrew can balance up the RB30.. Think I can find one.. No sir..
