jrm
Having put braided lines on my N14SSS (which already had a brake upgrade with AD22VF calipers/rotors from the GTiR, along with DBA slotted & cross-drilled rotors) - i was suitably impressed with how much 'bitier' the brake pedal was and in general the brake feel when I had custom ADR-approved lines made up - I was very impressed. I knew when I bought my R34 GT-T that braided lines I would definitely be on the list of modifications. I ended up ordering my ADR approved braided brake lines from a brake supplier in Melbourne that was mentioned on SAU (can't remember their name - was it Brake West?). They have this weird metal device in the middle that my brake guy said wouldn't be able to replicated if he'd sent them off to get made into braided lines (which I'd done for the N14). However, after having them fitted, I wasn't as impressed with the braking improvement / pedal feel on the R34 in comparison to the N14; not as noticeable, but still there.. not sure if I could recommend it. Mr GTS4
yeah is only that one block that the guy at my brake place can't get. he has spoken to his supplier and he said that the only way to get it is to send one overseas and get it made and order a min 20,000 items. so i don't see him doing that in a hurry. Mr_RS4
Just go to www.maltech.com.au They make complete front and rear replacments for stageas. ADR approved with the ADR numbers stamped on the rubber boots at the end of each fitting on each line (so there won't be any issues if you get inspected). I got a set off them front and rear for my series one. They fitted perfectly and bolted up exactly as the standard ones did. They also do custom ones, so if your fitting R33 calipers and need the fittings changed they should be able to handle it. Very friendly and made them up and posted them to me very quickly. You can also choose the colour of the braid and the rubber boots too if thats your thing. My old lines were ok but were starting to show signs of wear. I fitted the lines front and rear, dba and dixcel slotted rotors front and rear and dixcel sports pads with motul racing brake fluid. Once they were bedded in the change was amazing (still using standard calipers). I'd already had a descent set of pads on my stock setup but still had little pedal feel and a bit spongy feel when braking hard. Now I have a very firm pedal feel which makes for much more confident braking. Once you get some heat in them (even though cold performace is good) they bite very hard for some time before they start to fade still yet to fit a MC brace. From memory the price was quite good on the lines too. Here are some pics from when I did it last year. Their not great but you get the idea. Easy job to do. CruisingFast
Afternoon, Has anyone with a 260RS S1 fitted braided brake lines to there car? Just curious as I've seen a seller on ebay selling adr compliant ones for R33 GTR, one thing the add mentions was that different version of R33 have different lengths which made me wonder whether I should just get one's for a C34 Stagea with R33 brembo connectors. Mr GTS4
me thinks they are completly different, as the stagea lines come from one side and go over the hub then down to the caliper. i haven't seen a r33 gtr but the lines that i have seen for them don't look remotely the same.. and if you were to fit them they wouldn't pass main roads as they don't follow the factory design. I'll reply to this thread to let everyone know if they were the same in case there are others out there looking at doing this. I wanted them to add to my existing group buy for RDA slotted and dimpled rotors with ebc pads. Worst case i might be selling some ADR compliant R33 GTR braided lines and will get the existing one's measured to make custom ones. CruisingFast
Got my braided brake lines fitted to the car today, well atleast the front anyway. For anyone else with 97 260RS, the R33 GTR braided brake line kits aren't a complete match. The fronts fitted without issues though the rears have a completely different connector. I've sent a message to the supplier giving them stock Stagea model types to see if they have done these before. KiwiRS4T
I bought a set of hoses from Maltech for an RS4 but the front hoses were a little short - they worked but couldn't be secured the same way as the old ones. If anyone has an old set to send them they could make their Stagea set a better match. (Have a local source now myself). 260tech
I bought a set of hoses from Maltech for an RS4 but the front hoses were a little short - they worked but couldn't be secured the same way as the old ones. If anyone has an old set to send them they could make their Stagea set a better match. (Have a local source now myself). For the record, I sent Maltech my front & rear standard (Brembo) brakelines off my 1998 S1 260RS about 2 years ago now as at that time 260RS was a bit rare or so it seemed. As I understand it Maltech already had the standard Nissan line patterns for RS4 series Stageas by then. So they should have the correct patterns/lengths for both RS4 & 260RS. Maybe give them a call & I would be telling them about your front hoses being a bit short at the same time.
