Well, I have just heard my turbo go pop the other day and needed to know what my options are for getting it fixed.

My car is an r33 gtst and I was looking at one of the following:

1. hi flow / rebuild my turbo (machine housing, steel wheels etc) - $800

2. reconditioned VG30 turbo - $1400

3. aftermarket turbo - $2000 +

I was looking at going for a hi-flow / rebuild of my turbo to fix it as this is a fairly reasonable price. Is this a good option? Is there anything I should look out for?

Is there anything i need to know before I do this? Do I hav to tell them any spec's I want?

In the end I was hoping to have something that will give me around 200 - 220 rwkw's with an SAFC, exhaust and r34 gtt intercooler.

No way will you get a ball bearing turbo rebuilt for 800 with new wheels, core and associated balancing, machining etc. If it was a plain bearing turbo it'd be a good price.

Closer to 1800 unless you know someone I don't

Second hand r33 turbo will set you back 5-600 if you can find one for private sale.
