High Power Driver Skill

How good does someone have to be to drive say a 250-300kwatw turbo rear wheel/bias drive car? I currently drive a FF NA with 100kw at the fronts (although it has very short gears). I kind of crap myself when I see these numbers and think I can't drive that. Can I adapt quickly enough? I'm 31 and relatively a mature driver.

I understand that you need to do all your braking on the straight, slow in fast out if you are giving it the boot etc.

you just learn throttle control... quickly!

seriously though, people who don't drive powerful cars think you just mash the gas when you want to go fast but you learn to gently roll on the throttle... and especially in a rwd or in the wet you learn to wait til the steering wheel is straight before you give it the beans... or you can do it the fun way, just hit it and get ready to pour on the opposite lock! lol

you will get used to the power pretty quickly anyway... do a skid pan day or some driver training and you'll be right

i think it depends greatly on how the car is setup as well. If boost is like a light switch, and have crappy suspension (ie too hard most likely) with crappy geometry... well, you're going to have your hands full.

If the car has been setup right, with good suspension, yes it will take some getting use to but if everything is more "progressive" then it will be much more easy to control.

i'm kinda in the same boat as yourself, my first car was a 1.6l fwd nissan pulsar i think had about 57kw's at the fly. And then the next was the R34, now 285rwkw. Yet to be driven in major angry around a track, but i can already tell i'm really going to have to keep my head on straight when doing so.
