haha nah guys thats not my stagea...put it up as the avatar cos its mint! :P

Picked up the stag tonight...abit dark for photos tho so I will take some tomorrow.

There was a burning oil smell when i looked at the m35 first and got a full inspection done...apparently the

oil dip stick was half way out and put oil all over the right hand side of the engine bay.

Can still smell oil now even though the workshop did a clean of the engine.

Im thinking theres still some excess oil left there or maybe a gasket is stuffed?

anyone had similar problems?

Also the Airbag sensor light is flashing...they checked it out and fixed it but it started flashing again

after a couple of hours.

Heres some more pictures of the first rims...I like them the most too....nice a classy but tough at the sametime.

Hi JDMWGN.

I have also had the problems you have just described.

They seem to have a bad connection somewhere in the airbag circuit which triggers the error, mine is still flashing.

I also had the same burning oil smell and tracked it down to the seal around the rear plug on the passenger side. It will be full to the brim with oil and overflowing onto the turbine housing, not very safe. If you get the dealer to import a new cover it will take ages, I just used a sealant on the rubber seal as they arent replaceable. Replace the plugs while youre there.

What colour is yours? I will keep an eye out for it. :)

The burning oil smell is worse when driving....specially when flooring it but if its sitting there idling it goes away.

strange!

There's a thread somewhere that talks about this issue, and refers to the G35/Z33 which is prone to the problem. Do a youtube search and you'll find a vid of someone discovering the issue. I think a new cam-cover is required to fix the problem properly, but a dose of sealant may do the trick.

rear plug, passenger side.

I disagree, a new cover will probably leak too. Just seal it, unless you can find some aftermarket alloy covers?

When is the meet? :)

Yeah, I was going to ask as well....

Welcome to the club Michael, but I do think I am getting heavily out numbered by you low slung guys.. Any other tall boy AR-Xs in Vic?

Just means we will need to arrange a cruise with a whole heap of speed bumps, or somewhere where my rear LSD helps...

Jumping on the kerosene budge in a a few hours so should be back home 24 hours later in time to take the old girl out for a drive... Better say hi to the family as well....

lol......yeh Cam!!!!!

what's with selling your PM bumper BTW?

cheers mate, the interior looks alot better in person.

camera flash makes it look shitty.

I havent looked at the rear passenger spark plug yet but i found that video on youtube on a G35 i think it was.

shitload of oil in that plug aye.

what spark plugs do you guys use for the VQ25DET.

should setup a cruise soon for the VIC boys!

Im going to go with these wheels....the ones above were $2800 posted from japan...to much for what it is.

Are you doing the plugs yourself? You will need a syringe with a tube on the end to suck the oil out.

The oil only weeps in over time so you dont have to worry about doing the seal straight away.

cheers for the help scotty, how hard is it sealing the seal? is it under the rocker cover or is the VQ25DET different to the SR20DET :)

Yeah I think its a Tweeter andy...its not working though but I have a set of new pillars coming from japan already because they look ugly lol

I noticed my stagea didnt come with any gauges in the headunit area....must of been pulled out maybe?

If youre doing the seal yourself, it will take a while. The manifold has to come off and the loom over the engine moved out of the way. Nowhere near as simple as the sr motors.

Dont try and remove the seal, it is glued in and if damaged a new valve cover will set you back $300. Also, go easy on the sealant as you dont want excess floating around your engine.

I was lucky with my gauges, they were in the boot due to a double din TV install and I had to ask for them to be refitted.

How much do you want for the muffler, is it 3 inch stainless? Mine is too loud. :D

The HKS DeModa (which is what this one looks like) is a 2.5" (65mm) cat-back.

well if u wanna sell the muffler

ill buy it off ya

BTw i dont think rx250's came with gauges

Didn't notice it was an RX (didn't look at the rear pic :D ).

That has to be the 1st RX I have seen without the stacker and integrated head unit.

    • Middle seat good for a slab of beer or Esky for a road trip. 2x kids, means 1x free seat lol.
    • So we have most the interior back in, and for the first time with one OEM speaker hooked up. The 31 is running, driving and now tunes!!! Hahaha yet another step for the sub that sat 10m under for two weeks!!! unbelievable really 👌 lots of love work and not giving up on her. Seen so many youngsters part way less, and in way better condition. I’m stubborn, thinking another problem is just a hurdle to overcome, One at a time. IMG_9277.mov
    • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu.
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.
