Hey guys I'm looking to buy a V35 and I just have some questions I want to ask you all :P

How long have you owned your V35 for?

Where did you buy it from? (import, private, dealer):

What type of V35? (Coupe/Sedan,Manual/Auto):

How much did you pay for it?

How many problems/faults have you had with it (please give detail):

How much has it costed repairing these problems?:

How much do you get out of a full tank of petrol?:

And lastly, 0-100, how fast do you reckon? :):

Thanks for that guys :)

- A couple of months.

- Imported it.

- Manual. Coupe. White Pearl. Premium. 20" wheels.

- I dont want to add it up but it is a tad over $30k.

- No problems other than dodgy installation of immobiliser during compliance.

- About 500km.

- Not fast enough (havent tested, but over 6 seconds?).

Cheers for that, so your not happy with the speed? I was under the impression it would be a bit of a beast on the roads (haven't had a chance to test drive any yet).

-1 year and 1 month roughly

-Dealer, fresh import

-V35 coupe manual 2003

-Base $32500 driveaway, i paid a bit more to get some stuff done/changed

-1 major problem...it dyno'd at 130rwkw.. fixed now and it's putting out 170rwkw @ ismr (where stock z's with same motor do 150's)

-Fixed through giving car TLC.. i.e. changing all fluids and some consumables since me buying it. So no cost really, i see it as maintenance

-About 400kms, i'm fairly heavy on the right pedal

-5.9s, was quicker before but i have less rear grip on launch now due to moving to stiffer springs and using street tires again

My comment was tongue in cheek - no matter what someone drives, dont we all wish it was at least a little bit faster? :P

Anyway. They have a good powerband for driving around town. Which is what I use it for and it is more than adequate for the job.

In terms of raw straight line speed they are probably slower than the large majority of other "sports" cars. You might be able to peel away from the lights faster than hondas and family sedans.

That's a bit discouraging, if I "might" be able to take off quicker than honda's and sedans lol.

1. Since Oct last year i think

2. Import myself, Help from prestige motor sport

3. Coupe 70th anniversary

4. Total $29,000

5. Pulls to the left(maybe the tyres), Bonnet did not push down hard enough on the sensor so when i drive fast enough or over a big bump the windows would go up and down :) fixed put a stopper to push down on the sensor harder :P Ask me if you want more details.

6. $2.78. rubber stoppers are not cheap

7. 500k at a guess, alot more when i drive to and from Perth (i live in Gero 465k north of Perth) I might be able to get there and back on a full tank.

8. I can beat a XR6, good enough for me. i have mods Intake and Plenum Spacer.

Go get one :) join the club

    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
    • I just quote the Rolling Stones. Paint it black.
