Clutch Slipping...?

Almost ever since I got my latest clutch installed (Exedy Sports Organic) I've noticed that when it gets hot after driving in a straight line, if I want to put the boot up it it'll feel like it slips heaps, and car doesn't really go anywhere.

This was about 2 years ago now, and so I've noticed something finally today driving down the Hume Highway; after I turned off the exit and took a fairly sharp left turn, then planted it, it grabbed immediately. It proceeded to slip a bit after driving along a long set of straights, then after doing a big long righthand turn, the next plant went well.

Am I correct in assuming that there's a problem with gearbox oil? I think I saw some seepage around that area when the car was up on the hoist last, and it seems by taking the turn, it'd slosh it around a bit?

If I'm totally wrong, please let me know; I want this sorted out ASAP as I've got a new ECU incoming.

Seriously?...

Unless you are resting your left foot on the clutch pedal while you are driving, the clutch doesn't do squat. Just sits there and spins at engine revs. Gearbox oil cannot affect the operation of the clutch unless you have a large input seal leak, and if you had that since install you definitely wouldn't have a working clutch now.. Clutch is separate to gearbox, not inside it.

Find a mechanic (or someone with a clue) and have a talk with them about how a clutch and how a gearbox works..

Yeah, my new mechanic (not the guys who installed it) was my next stop, to rip it all open and see what's going on. If it needs adjusting, great, if it's the whole thing, I'll be giving Jim Berry a call next week.

Just thought I'd check anyway, just seems odd that after I do a hard/long turn it comes good again for a bit. When the car's cold (driving less than half an hour I mean) it won't ever slip.

Ok, went and saw my mech:

He adjusted something under the clutch pedal (or near it) which allowed the fluid to move through, apparently. My clutch always used to be rock hard all the way down,now it has a bit of give before it engages. Apparently that give allows it to....shit something or other.

Basically now I can move the pedal in freely for a while and then it feels hard (clamp), whereas before, as soon as i started pressing down on it (needed a lot more force than just resting foot on it to do so), it would engage.

Not sure, I'll have to take it for a long drive next weekend. Going around near home isn't enough to get it up to temp, I don't think.

You need some play in your clutch pedal before the master cylinder is engaged. If you had none, then by the sounds of it when the clutch fluid heated up the expansion of the fluid caused the slave to push the clutch fork ever so slightly. I could be completely wrong, but I guess you'll find out if its fixed when you get a chance to test it

Yeah, that's what my mechanic was telling me... Guess I know now

I'm just happy that it's not a $1400 job.

My clutch slips on hard boost in 3rd and sometimes 2nd and has Sweet f**k all free play,

how is the freeplay adjusted, anyone know (r32 gtst)?

He adjusted something up like at the top/back of my clutch pedal; ill take a photo tomorrow morning and see if i can work out what he did. I'd say it'd be the same.

yeahp, just had a look at mine, thats where it is

also just found my master cyl has a leak when i looked lol
