fast shows that p/n 23740 0V310, as being an ecu out of a 08/97 to 08/98 stagea which puts it as a S1 ecu :D

here is a fast screenshot:

and here is a fast search of you ecu number, 23710 0v801 but look like you could use a 23710 0v800 with out a problem.

bad news, you have the same bastard child stagea ECU that I had. the lovely people at nissan jp created an ecu and wiring loom for only a single month of production which was different to every other one.

what do you need to do? no other ecu will work unless you modify it to suit...i've been through all this including a burnt out PFC (injector driver issues)

cheers duncan . can you tell me what else you know about the bastard child ? pm if you want . my intentions were to get the ecu for sale re mapped by nzefi in christchurch nz as they can re map r34 gtt ecus and have done stagea ones but they said theyd need to check it out first , and keep my standard one spare .

do you agree with qwk32 i could use an 0V801 in place of mine or is that what you were talking about saying it needs to be modified ?

i think duncan misunderstood your post a little in thinking your ecu is the 23740 0V310. the ecu the guy is trying to sell you was only in a short run of S1 stagea's, and that it has a completely different pinout configuration than the other S1 stagea ecu's, i think i'm right in saying that there were 3 different S1 ecu's, duncan? and each of them had a different pinout configuration.

but thats really got nothing to do with what your after lachlan. you need a S2 ecu, a S1 ecu wouldn't work and aren't easily chipped like the S2 ones are. the 2 ecu's you could use are the last 2 p/n's on the bottom of the second pic i posted, the 23710 0v801 and the 23710 0v800, as they are both S2 manual ecu's. though one thing you may want to look into is using a R34 GTT ecu, its the same engine. 4WD compatibility shouldn't be a problem and you don't have the auto shift logic to worry about.

oh k cheers for that . yeah i had a gtt one lined up aswell . this one popped up on $1 reserve and he says its a manual neo stagea one . its like frukin jack pot but yeah not happenin . cheers heaps guys . will get a pfc later on when i get new turbo and everything else

  • 1 year later...

ahh yeah sorry I had it all backwards. no-one wants that ecu and its worth about half what they are asking....

I'm hoping someone in here could help me? I have a 2000 RSV AT stagea with a ecu part number 23740 0V801 that I think is stuffed and i need a replacement ASAP.

If someone could tell me if there is an alternative part number or someone has one for sale, please let me know.

Cheers,

There's an as new R34 G4 Link for sale on SDU for $1500 which is a decent saving. EFI can install and tune.

i have a guy keen to buy my nisstuned ecu (rs4 auto...also fine for manual)

but he wants to swap with an RS ecu... this is no good for either of us is it?

answer being no... any one eles keen??

i get that auto ecu runs manual and auto car.... but will manual run auto and manual car? silly question maybe.. but dont want to swap and have issues

I'm pretty sure the AT ECU is a separate beast all together, located behind the drivers side kick panel. The only thing that you will loose is possibly the ignition retard on gear changes which isn't a problem if you have a good shift kit in there

I can't say for sure if it will work or not but if it can go one way you would think it would go back and Atleast run the engine. The only other thing I can think would be a problem is the neutral switch. Could be nasty having the car start in gear

On the S2 (NEO motor) the auto shift logic chip is apart if the engine ecu.

Chef, as far as using a RS ecu it will run the engine fine, and i guess the auto too. only difference being the RWD stagea's have traction control. You may have to do the resistor trick to disable the TCS and stop it throwing up error codes.

    • Hi everyone, I’m Dave from Canberra. Here's a few pics of my 1992 R32 GTST coupe which I imported back in 2006. Only mods so far are HKS Hi-power cat back exhaust, K&N filter, ATC Volanti steering wheel, Pioneer stereo, amp and sub. This was my daily driver up until 2015 and sadly hasn’t been driven at all in the last 5 years due to marriage, work, and kids taking up most of my time and spare cash.As such its in need of a bit of TLC and one of my goals for this year is to get it back to running condition and maybe look into club/historic rego. I’ve joined SAU so I can ask a few questions along the way (although I promise to google Current Problem +SAU beforehand!)
    • From talking to the mx5 guys the NC doesn't actually need bonnet vents like the earlier NA and NB models, due to a better designed cooling system and undertray design There's plenty of them used as street cars and weekend track toys running anywhere from around 170 to 250kw with stock non vented bonnets, I initially was going to get some bonnet vents, but, as they are not actually required, I'll put vents on hold for a while and just monitor temps, though I do need to get something to actually monitor engine oil temps though, coolant temp can be pulled from the OBD2, but the oil gauge in the car is not actual oil temp, it is only a calculation based off coolant temp and RPM ☹️ They do recommend upgrading the radiator, which I have already done with a triple pass, and the only other thing they recommend for a street car is heat management, like I talked about above to protect bits in the engine bay from radiant heat, and to either replace the nearly 20 year old plastic coolant expansion tank, which I have done, or get a aftermarket alloy jobbie for some bling They did also say that if I wanted to track the car on occasion a oil cooler and sump baffle would be required, and as I already have had a sump baffle installed when the engine was out......... I'm going to get a oil cooler with a thermostat....... just in case I do eventually track the car, but probably not, but still maybe...🤪
