Gear Leaver Hitting Handbrake?

hey guys iv just got my first skyline, its a r32 gts im a p plater hence the non turbo, when i put it in 5th or reverse the shifter hits the handbrake and i have to push pritty hard, its this common or do i have a busted engine or gbox mount? engine and gear leaver doesent move at all when taking of hard or reversing so feels like the mounts are good

nope the shifter shouldn't even get close. either stuffed gearbox bushes (there is a big mount between the gearbox and the cross member, and 4 smaller bushes where the crossmember bolts to the chasis

or the gearstick is very bent, or in backwards.

Id get it checked for previous accidents asap. This happened to my brothers r32 after he smashed it into a traffic light pole.
