im lookin at one of these 3 kits for my car and just looking for some feedback, on whether one is better than the other..

the car will be used for both drags and circuit its putting out over 570awkw so i want good stopping power .

alcon kit- 365mm 6 pot front / 335mm 4 pot rear (monoblock calipers)

endless kit - 370mm 6 pot front / 332mm 4 pot rear (racing calipers)

project mu kit - 355mm 6 pot front / 345mm 4 pot rear (billet racing calipers)

i like the project mu kit as i can run 17" wheels for the drags, better tyres available etc.... but i wont be able to run 17s with the 365's or 370's... but then i guess i may be compromising stopping powerc for circuit work... but ill most prob be more dedicating my time to circuit work.....with the occasional trip to the drag strip..

so im not sure, id like to hear input from ppl running any of these kits to aid me in getting some, i need to get some this week and my car is nearing completion!

thanks and much appreciated if u can help!

Endless kit is very expensive, I was looking at greenline earlier and for just the front kit its $5,874 and rear kit is $4,618.. the cheapest option might most likely be with this guy for such a big order (small commission): http://jessestreeter.com/

Hi mate, im running D2 330mm 8 pot fronts and D2 330mm 6 pot rears on my gtst. I was reccommended these brakes by guys that have had circuit racing experience and they are great. i have only done one track day on them but they have run seasons on them. Pads are interchangeable with other well known brake manufacturers. You can run a 17' wheel with the 330mm rotors. They are about $2000 a set so half the price and come with everything including braided brake hoses. I was looking at the same kits you were but am glad i went this way.

wow this car sounds like an absolute monster !! PICs please..!!!!

570awkw. so around 1000hp right? what does the car weigh? Presumably 30% more power and 30% more weight than a supercar. You have at least 100wkw more than anyone I know racing these cars including the sports sedans.

None of the stuff you listed is likely to do the job for track use if you can push the car hard. Expect to run 18s with 370-380mm curved vane rotors, and big 8 piston calipers like cup car brakes with top line pads. $10k+ specialist setup required here.

So, given that, and that you want to do drags and circuit you are going to have to swap brakes and wheels between events, or have some sort of compromise. And I personally hate compromising on brakes.

I'm running the G4/D2/Ksport calipers that Stu mentioned on my race car and they are excellent. But I'm making half the power you are.

Re wheel fitment - there are some 356 size rotors that will fit under some 17" rims, we have done this on the new race car with a couple of mm clearance to spare under weds 17" wheels. If you do really want to fit the biggest ones you can check out heaps of different wheels, they have amazingly different inner clearances between different brands and models.

Stay away from Endless and Pmu. Good gear but you dont have the range of pads and replacement rotors like you do with the AP, Alcon and Brembo kits.

As Duncan said, you will need to swap over brakes-wheels between drags and track stuff. It doesnt sounds like the car is a daily driver so i would be looking at motorsport calipers, not street calipers. Simply because they saddle the rotors better and you can jam a 382mm rotor under a 18" wheel with a nice Alcon or Brembo race 6 pot caliper. New the calipers are about $4000 each, but you can pick them up 2nd hand and serviced for about that for a pair.

hey, atm the car is making that power with a jun 2.7 and t88 but im goin to step it down to a SPL with OS rb30 bottom end..

i think ill opt for te37 18s as i know they have one of the best inner clearances to accommodate upto 380mm fronts.

most prob heading towards the alcons or endless... ive driven a 34 gtr with 470awkw with the endless brakes and i must say the thing stops like crazy, but that was street driven, not sure howd they perform on the track....

thx 4 all the input, keep it coming

Nothing wrong with the local product either.

http://www.harrop.com.au/products/brake_assemblies.html

As for the 17" rim size - you will be pushed to get anything much more than a 355 rotor under there & even them you will have to be carefull to get the right rim/calliper/rotor combination.

after a bit of research and price negotiations, im gonna either get a full setof brembos off a r35 GTR with 380mm front or the alcon set, just waiting on the gtr brakes price, the owner of this car put some alcons on it....

thanks for all the help

yep, as much as I love jap stuff and EVERYTHING on my cars is jap, in this case I say go the alcons. for circuit work with that kind of power you need serious brakes. forget using them at the drags. drags are just one HARD stop, so for them you could just use standard 32 GTR gear with street pads (need to work from cold), then you can run 16s or 17s with some MTs etc.

oh, and engine looks very nice mate. very, very nice. :D

oh, one other thing. the 35 GTR stuff is ok, but there is still a bit of a premium on pads for them. the ol GTR tax. and they are not really a motorsport caliper (they are still good though). I would still go the alcons over the 35 brembos.

and the fact he will have to be running a chute...

Seriously, if you are going to be running that sort of power, the best kit you can run that is cheaper then what you are looking at paying for the R35 stuff is some CP5555-****, 6 pot AP calipers. I cant recall the exact few digist of the part number but they are wider and allow you to run a 36mm thick wide rotor. They will saddle 376-380mm rotors and still fit inside the 18" TE37.

The R35 stuff is only 32mm thick so only getting so much cooling, with the 36mm thick rotor you get far superior cooling. The AP CP5555 is about the best, most versatile street-performance caliper you can get and doubles with being able to take motorsport width rotors (is 36mm thick)

If your car has that much grunt and weight i would not be using the Alcon Mono6 on their 365x32mm rotors.(and i love the Mono6 calipers)

Oh shit i met you not too long ago when you were getting your power window fixed..

i work next door to that window place.

ah ye, that was ages ago haha since then ive had nothing but dramas but its finally sorted, had to rewire the whole car and bla bla bla, but should see the road in the next few weeks again! its been about 9 months since i last drove it

no offence but there is no comparison, no matter how hard you are driving on the road it will be nothing like a couple of laps on a track. pretty much any brakes will pull any car up for 3-5 hard stops at fast road speeds.

is anyone else using d2 gear? considering the price difference they might be worthwhile

i dunno if you'd want to rely on china parts to stop your car though haha

I do happily, and so do many others on here. Tacker for instance who races his gtr in bahrain against the lambos, porsche cup cars and now vipers. bastard. targa cars, race cars, all sorts of serious race cars using them- but in the case I think they will not be big enough.

sounds like great advice. you will regret any compromise on this car.

hey, thanks for all that, the car isnt a full track animal, ill just be doin track days here n there and things like superlap etc, but i need brakes to finish it off so ill take everything on board and see how i go..

ill ring around regarding the ap kits and what i can get to suit

are these the calipers u are talking about roy?

http://www.apracing.com/info/products.asp?...2F%3E_2762_2570

i guess tomoro ill see wat the damage is!!
