Duncan Posted August 31, 2009 Share Posted August 31, 2009 Mike is right! you need a harmonic balancer puller to get it off. prying is a very bad idea and I hope you didn't try too hard. basically the balancer is a very tight fit on the crank and if you pry from one side it the balancer does not come off straight which makes it even tighter. if it looks uneven on the crank you are best to tap in back on with a rubber mallet. see the 2 threaded holes on the front? you need to get 2 long bolts with that thread, a harmonic balancer puller and put the crank bolt back it (not tight but the head of the bolt needs to be inside the balancer again). slowly turn the bolt on the puller and it will slide off. be very careful to screw the small bolts right in because the thread is pretty small for the force those bolts will have.
