bozodos
haha bugger that! The crunching does get REALLLY annoying after a while, especially when you get dickheads trying to give you driving tips as well about it. Guess it depends on your footwear - I usually rip the workboots off to drive home, 'cause space in the pedal area isn't quite sufficent! I do find my knees tend to hit the steering wheel when heel-toeing. Good idea to try to make one good 'box out of two, but can you be sure the innards of the second hand one are in good nick? Birds
I can do it in any footwear and my legs are long as fark...but I don't do a proper heel/toe so to speak. Mines more of a regular upright foot but sitting between the brake and accelerator pedals. I just adjust the amount of pressure I exert on the left and right side of the foot so to speak. Takes some practice but IMO it gives more control over the pedals changing the tilt of your foot than turning it on side - plus you don't need anymore room than your regular driving position. Well heel and toe works great for downshifts but there's not much you can do about noisy synchros on the upshift...just gotta shift ultra slow and deal with it. johnGTS-t
I have the same or similar problem. Mine just wont go into 4th. It just grates and I just keep trying to get it in. Very frustrating in a race. It's happened the last 2 race meetings, but not all the time. We use redline shockproof and a short shifter. The throw out race is noisy too. The bush on the end of the shifter wore through so we made another thinking that may of been the problem, but it isnt. Its only 4th that it does it. Duncan
ultimately the only solution is replacing the synchros on 4th. in the meantime ditch the short shifter and change gears slower is your only choice Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/285996-crunching-into-4th/page/2/#findComment-4813652 Share on other sites
