Illegal Drugs (“prohibited drugs”) and Alcohol. During the event, consumption of alcoholic beverages in the paddock, pits or any other portion of the competition venue under the control of the officials is expressly forbidden until all practice or competition activity is concluded for the day. Any driver or crew member who is found to be affected by alcohol on the day of the event or practice therefore shall not be permitted to participate. Refer NCR 145A of the current CAMS Manual.

In addition the persons concerned will be subject to the Articles for Alcohol Testing and CAMS Drugs in Sport Policy. Competitors, crews, or officials may be tested for alcohol or other drugs at any time during the event. This regulation serves as the required 24-hour notice to Competitors, Crew and Officials.

You will find out I am usually all talk when it comes to getting pissed. Too old, with memories of many sore heads, over too many years to bash it too hard these days.

2 weeks and a bit to go :(

I will see you at the Super cars Saturday week with a spanner in my hand thou. You can't go to the " ISLAND" without a pitcrew. :)

Looking forward to meeting you Graham and thanks again for the use of your place - definitely making things MUCH easier for us to do the next 2 weekends and we really appreciate it.

I *could* be a late scratching for the sprint though- a nasty wrist injury has flared up thanks to some spirited driving of the no powersteering spec March Superturbo and also hanging off the end of a block and tackle (not to mention shoving one tonne about) to move the nugget around in a cargo container today.

Should hopefully mend in time but I reckon Duncan putting me to work today could be part of his evil plan to keep the entry for himself ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

After last weekend,,,watching the targa cars running around there I have re-assessed my top 10 goal. I'd forgotten how bloody long that straight is and how quick the rest of it is. In actual fact I'm a little nervous. All the big horsepower/torque cars are going to hand me my arse on a plate !!!.

I have a question though,,,not knowing if there will be a tyre changing mob there,,,is there somewhere competent in close proximity to the track that can swap rubber for me?.

Neil.

Just when you head out of the gates of the track. There is a sign about a motor cycle guy in cowes. I have never been there but i am sure he could change your tyres Neil.

I must say i havnt seen a car tyre place on the Island but that doesnt mean there isnt one.

Edit:

seems there is ONE.

Neil - Horsepower is handy at the Island no doubt but it's no substitute for grip around there. If you want a real horse-power track go to Sandown.

But there is sooooo many LOOOOOONNNGGG high G corners there that if you can be fast through them you'll get the times no worries. Just look at the times the Super-Karts do around there in comparison to Targa Cars. We get flogged by Karts!

At a day recently there was a mad punter piloting a bike engined Radical and the thing was in the high 30s, i think it was 1:38s or something crazy, so long straight or not, a Radical will be coming onto the straight 30-40km/h quicker then any road based track car

speaking of soft.... it looks like I'll have the drinking boots with me afterall :)

It doesn't happen often, but I'm feeling sorry enough for Duncan after his rotten luck at the supertaxi round to let him have the spot this weekend.

Better get that fridge well stocked Neily :D

hey guys, this weekend is looking good. got the 33 ready , new tires new breks its going to be a good weekend. any one down Friday give us a call 0421 830 517 fer people cathing up for dinner and a beer would be good.

    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
    • I don't have a printer, but could at least attempt to make a printable model.
