Blame Craig's camera, I swear I got about 10-12 flames, BIG flames, plus the smoke billowing from your brakes all on footage but the bloody thing stopped recording. Would have been epic

This current build is by James from Nisspeed. He has done an awesome job. This car has been through a lot of different setups, but I am very happy to be getting some use out of it now with this new "detuned" engine.

For those of you that dont know the background of this GTR have a look at an old thread named

"History of a 9 second GTR" I have had this R33 since April 2000.

Last time I took it out (at the GSR/EVO time attack earlier this month) I got it down to 1:16.4

Today, after turning the boost down(!) we did a 1:15.0

The R35 wasnt too far behind with a 1:16.2 (not my best - has done 15.8) but std tyres starting to let it down a bit.

Cheers bud, as I said, was very happy with how the car performed, bar the tires (which I knew were bad to begin with) and the water temp overheating issues (which I have a few ideas about how to fix) I was only running a smidgen over 1bar of boost today, what were you running?

Not good about the brakes! I had no issues with mine which I thought would be a weak point but didn't experience any fade at all. Probably meant I wasn't pushing hard enough

Gauge on the dash was saying nearly spot on 1.2 bar so about 17-18psi. I should of checked the profec b to see what that was reading.

Those disks are RDA's but when you get them as hot as i do im pretty sure they'd all crack. Doesn't help that i still have the stone guards on the rear disks

I think I left 2 tyre pressure gauges on the beam in the RH garage, if anyone saw them please let me know.

I had a look in both sheds as I was the last to leave and I didn't see them. However it's possible that I missed them as the RH shed was pretty empty and clean but I did glance at the ledges.

Thanks for bringing your cars out Munro. The R33 is a beast and brilliant to watch and listen to. The R35 was great to see in action - damn quick but surprisingly quiet, even with the Willall midpipe.

had an awesome day at Mallala today! great weather, a great bunch of cars, and a good bunch of people out there.

i was quite pleased with how the V35 went - it drove well for a relatively stock car (only Nismo S-tune suspension and bottom of the range Endless VN8500 pads) and was very comfortable around the circuit today. suspension was nice and flat around corners with no obvious fade from the brakes from a couple of laps (could have done with a bit more bite and braking force though). preempting the auto box's laggy shifting during manual override took a bit of getting used to, but the perceptible delay with the electronic throttle was annoying and made throttle control on corner exits difficult. however, the NA only used half a tank of fuel today so i didn't need to bring the extra 20L fuel after all!

a bunch of 1'34 laps from an auto 143rwkw NA family sedan was a pleasant surprise. and it could take four to the pub at lunchtime with ease after running those laps! thanks to Luke, Glenn and Jugz for helping to time me during the day after my lap timer decided to go flat after only my second lap this morning (i now know that the LCD display battery lasts for about 2.5 years!). it would have been great to go harder for a few more seconds off, but i was very conscious about pushing it too far and into a wall.

in the end, i drove home in quiet air-conditioned comfort, gave it a wash, and it was like i was never there... all ready for the missus to take to work tomorrow morning!

overall, i'm glad that i didn't break anything (i haven't noticed any problems yet!) and was very relieved that i didn't spin or go off road. the Spin King award should definitely go to David and his Pug for an impressive number of spins in one day! big points to him for driving that little 206 flat out all day.

many thanks to Adrian (rad32) for organising this event. it was a fantastic opportunity for me to get some practice and i am now looking forward to the November trackday where i hope to improve on my PB of 1'23.05 with the other car. i'll be heading out there for one last push with the stock turbos...

Had a really good time coming out to watch and was really impressed with how hard everyone was driving (especially Damo who had the ass out every time he went past the hill we were standing at)

Need to do a few mods to the GTR before I get out there, but I nearly gave into temptation! Would love to see the photos

Yep, was a good day. enjoyed it very much. Would of liked to stay longer but did manage to get 3 sessions in

with both the R33 & the R35 so happy with that.

Think I melted the tyres off the R35 - they are looking quite second hand now!

Having coolant issues with the race car but other than that was running well.

It was good to get it out there & get some practice in with the new set up.

Will have to get some vents organised because it is like a sauna in there with out any air flow.

Thanks for making it happen Adrian, well done. Lets do it again sometime soon.

I grabbed the Old school tyre gauge of the ledge and put in in your gear boot. Not sure about the new style hard cover one. It wasn't there when i checked before we left.

sounded/looked like the rear brakes were slightly engaged, which destroyed the pads/rotors with heat and track work?

Yeah Damo that's what I originally said to Wayne when Dave took it out. Even if you had the handbrake all the way down but the thing is done up to tight, its just going to melt those pads, which it did..
