hey guys...

i found some r32 for sale, but thE lady owner doesnt know about her brothers car.. ( REGO WAS IN HER NAME NOW )

i checked it, and sounds like 1992 gts4, AWD, RB20DET.. ( new engine bout 64,000 kms, chassis/body 137,000 kms)

may concern was, i thought it was 32 gtr, coz she said it got twin turbo, but it was not..

and i dont know much gts4..

here's the car issues,

1. front bar was in half, crashed.. ( where can i get 1?)

2. HICAS show up when we started the engine and didnt turns off.. 4 months not running.. ( how do i fix this? anyplace where they

can fix this? )

3. missing rh head light and indicator light. ( is it the same as 32 gtst / 32 gtr? )

4. she asking 9k for this, ( is it reasonable? )

any opinions much appreciated guys...

You can get another front bar from a wrecker & get it resprayed or buy a new one from a trader

HICAS might just be the fuse likely to have been taken out or blown, or it's been removed

Not sure on the headlights but I'd guess they would be the same for an R32 GTS-t...

9k is depending on the condition, but if that's the only major dramas with the car it looks like it could be a good buy

thanks ossie 21 /gdekwant...

yeah, i didnt test for a drive coz of the condition of front end and the lights..

i think, paint was good, interior looks fine..

the cluster is the nismo 320km, maybe he change it, coz i cant get any info from the lady when i ask her..

car starts fine, engine and exhaust was not bad also..

question,

GTS4 is a good skyline DNA also?

coz what im looking is 32 gtr..

cheers...

It's basically a baby GT-R man. The downside is that it won't fang like a GT-R in stock form but with a bit of fettling, it'll get up and boogie with excellent results.

The upside is that when a RB26DETT goes bang, you'll be looking at big bucks to fix it. When an RB20DET goes bang, you won't be sitting in your bedroom with your head in your hand balling your eyes out.

If you want to later on down the track, you can drop a 26 in if you have the know how, but you'd be happy with a mildly worked 20.

As far as the price is concerned, if you have half a brain cell, all those items can be fixed with minor ease and the parts should be easy to get hold of. I have seen the Gts-4 with GT-R headlights as well as Gts-t type, so it may be either. The GT-R headlights are a projection style (little round light with a squarish light next to it).

HICAS is a pain in the butt. Many of us disconnect it with a lockout bar, but if you really want it working do a search as there are a few factors that come into play when they go. It could be a fuse as mentioned previously or it could be the reservoir in the boot is low in fluid.

Front bar, go aftermarket.

Though it's your call what you do, if it was me, I'd grab it. Minor issues only.

Resevoir in the boot is for the ATESSA system, HICAS runs off the power steering circuit - check the power steering fluid, could just be low.

Headlights and indicators are specific to the guards/fenders, if it has GTSt fenders then you needs GTSt lights.

GTS4's are good cars, just very underpowered with the RB20. My mate has one with an RB30 (was at the last skidpan day) and holy shit.. makes 580hp and puts it all to the ground.. most of the time :) I did manage to get it really sideways though.. good times :)

Cheaper than most GTR's.. spend the extra 10k on the engine instead of purchase of the car. More sleeperish too as it looks like a GTSt.

9k is a bit steep for an accident damaged gts4, I'd be expecting about 7k (considering it needs a new front bar/painting, new headlight and indicator).

Shit, caught out again Bubba. I gotta stop answering emails first thing in the morning before my morning coffee!

More like 6.

Shit id consider selling my car for 9k.

I paid 8 for my car, completely stock but undamaged.

Prices must have plummeted in the last year. I was looking for a Gts-4 (and found one) for Brett last year and the prices were around the 11-13k mark.

Apart from the damage that has been described, the car is in good nick.

Bumper & paint - $600.00

Light and indicator - $200.

So for less than a grand in repairs you've got a fairly good Gts-4 for 10k.

If this is a ripoff, I need to get out more often??????

depends alot on condition, its pretty hard to speculate without seeing the car.

Its not that the repairs are expensive, its that you can get one without that damage for the same sort of money so why would you bother.

I dunno, i kind of undervalue the car sometimes but seriously with an older car like the 32's I wouldnt be paying 9g for a damaged one.

9k is too much for that amount of damage. one of the guys at works got an R32 GTS4 with an RB26DETT inside in pretty good condition and he got it for $9500. my suggestion is to keep looking around and you'll eventually find the one you want at the right price which you will cuz R32s are soooo cheap now.

as for the performance figures, the extra weight of the 4wd system will lump the performance especially in a straight line because the rb20 doesnt have much torque (a dead stock r32 gts4 only managed 0-100 in 7 secs) but a little mods can fix that.

Posting some pictures up might be able to better the feedback. $9,000 is pretty reasonable, as those particular repairs are very cheap to fix. That particular model can be great fun and handle very well. If the motor and drivetrain is mechanically fine and the exterior is good considering the age, then you might have a good buy. Especially if the female owner has been driving in the last couple of years. Supply and demand impacts on the price of skylines, if there is several on the market the median price is going to be reduced, if the market is dry and you have something on offer than noone else does at the time you have alittle more power on your price want. In terms of future repairs, the RB20 is pretty good value with most stuff cheaper than the Krudd's $900 stimulas plan.

Remember GOTBOOST, that ran 10.97 with his GTS-4 :)

i got some pictures in my phone, here some..
