Hello

I think I´m gonna buy one of this intake manifolds for rb25det. http://global.ebay.com/nissan_rb20_rb25_rb...0390396794/item

What do you guys think about it ? I think it looks realy good and it´s a nice price. Must be much better then the Greddy copy ? I plan to buy one with q45 throttle flange How much power can a q45 throttle handle ? Please help.

Regards

Good luck.

For more information on what i mean, search and find the dozen other "ebay copy" threads about intake manifolds.

They require a reasonable amount of re-work before they can be used with any confidence.

Good luck.

Ok I thougt this one used the original flange from nissan ? If it is so the fitting wouldn´t be any problems ? I know people have problem with the molded greddy style crap like this http://global.ebay.com/RB25_R33_R32_R34_EC...0355717398/item

I was not talking about the flange plates specifically.

Im talking about the entire thing, intake runners, main intake etc etc.

I've searched for you:

There are plenty more.

Good luck.

I disagree with that. I used to have an ebay copy GReddy plenum, and it bolted straight up, no modifying was required. Never skipped a beat.

That manifold doesnt look that bad, compared to others I have seen.

The look of it?

The only picture that shows the runners/flange area is the RB20 one, and then its on a total angle so you can barely see a thing.

Just because it is shiny means nothing.

If you've had a luck ebay buy, then that is great. But all you need to do is put "ebay plenum" or "ebay intake" into the search and watch the drama's unfold.

Yes I know about those problems with the molded manifold but I did´nt asked about those manifold if you check my link in the first post it´s a different manifold.

Because it's different doesn't magically make it better does it?

End of the day i don't really care how you decide. Your posts seem to indicate your going to buy it anyway regardless of what is said.

Be very wary of poor quality cast runners, the don't use original runners - they use dodgy reproductions.

For a similar price I had a custom one made out of my factory RB20 runners and a GTR plenum with a Q45 flange on the front. The fabricator is local and I've been able to take the semi-completed piece to and from his workshop to test-fit to the engine/make changes etc etc.

I'd rather spend my money locally and end up with something I know fits than send it overseas and get something potentially very dodgy.

I have fitted that type before. Top quality uses orignal nissan manifold just cut and shut.

Nice welds and looks like good grade alloy. work of art on the velocity stacks aswell. they also weld ur choice of tb flange to it.

I have one on my own 25/30 combo and it works well

The one in the picture is a pnt performace ebay one for a rb25, works really well. Sam at Dr drift is a real fan of them too.

I've also fitted 5 or so Greddy copies 2 becoming pouress and leaking water into the inlets. no way of repairing the sh1TTY sand casting either!!

Hmm looks neat! i like i like! ummmm, Just say i buy one right, What sort of intercooler would i need to buy to suit it? Because when i order the cooler like for my r33 series II wont the piping be inccorect? or would it have to be custom?? At the moment now i got a return flow cooler...

Thanks

interesting keep an eye out on the runners as i used a few (and tune a few) and they have all cracked around 5 and 6 after only a few track days. Even the 2 ca18 ones we used had porous welds around the trumpet bases. The last two had such warped bases they cracked when the customer installed it...

We now machine each one and re weld the runner bases, they seem to be fine after that.

PM WHEEZY about his.......

i must agree about the ebay greddy copies we wont fit them anymore as they are generally shite.... we have also had a few that leak into the inlets.

Yup, I should have really checked it all out properly before I installed, but you would think factory = factory, not so it seems.

I still think they are a great unit for RB20 providing the face is all square, but if I had a 25 there is no doubt I would just go the Trust item, by the time you purchase, ship, modify to fit correctly you could have a Trust plenum.

Well personally I wouldn't use the 26 plenum because of how it tapers off toward cyl 5-6, definitely a limitation which while proven to be 'ok' on rb26's making big enough hp is definitely still a limitation. If you're going with a new plenum why use something that isn't designed all that well in the first place?

For a fairly reasonable price the Greddy RB26 plenum is much better, retains the itb's too.

    • To be fair passengers who aren't silly and have been in proper fast cars have often been pretty impressed once you hit 4th gear
    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
