for those watching at home.

i'm currently trying to save as much data as possible from my hdd (have it running in a seperate computer as a slave)

we have narrowed it down to being something with the startup files

i'm getting all my data backed up and doing a complete strip pf the hdd, and pc into its individual pieces, slowly build it up again and see how that goes.

he solved the last BSoD so hopefully he can fix this in his spare time.

i owe him a carton of tooheys old if he gets it humming again

better than some random bloke in a PC store i guess

Haha that sounds like a bit of role-reversal to me... i.e. it's always me having to fix up what my dad who is almost computer-illiterate has managed to mangle... good luck with the backup...

the advantage of this is we have hundreds of various pc components around the place.

we can at least do the old trial and error with different, cables and devices if we need it.

its a little destressing when you are copying over files and unfortunately you click one of THOSE folders you have, and it opens, displaying, in thumbnail view a snap shot of the content of the files within

or you are chatting when copying the files and all of a sudden the pc beeps and says something like "could not copy super hardcore young cheerleader lesbian orgy, please ensure the file is not read only"

its a little emberrassing
