Hey guys,

Where is the best place to go to get roof racks for the stagea (in Melbourne)?

cheers

Give Roof Rack City, in Artarmon (Sydney) at call and ask them the model number for the Thule rack. They will tell you who to visit in Melbourne as they are the importer of Thule for Australia.

Cheers

Andy

I believe that Repco sell Thule roof racks.

Once you have the part number, take it to a Repco.

Remember that each Repco store price items independently, so if you don't like the first quote, try another store.

http://www.roofcarriersystems.com.au/ ?

Everywhere sells Thule products. Depends what suburb you are in and how many phone calls you want to make to save a few dollars.

Looking at buying over the Internet a 2001 M35 arx with no roof racks.

how do I install the two bars that run longitudinally on the roof that some models seem to have.

Is it a quick easy job?

Are these bars expensive or difficult to source ( eg a wrecker)

thanks

I'm assuming you mean the black rails down the sides of the roof? If so; all m35's have these. There are two small caps in each rail, these pop out and reveal a plate with two captive nuts. The end of the roof racks pick up these bolt holes to attach. The O.E. racks have a flat plate that you bolt through, but Thule's or Rhino's normally use an extruded side rail to mount. A section of this extrusion, bolted to the rail mount, will now accept the roof rack of your choice.

Thanks for the info.

Any idea of a ball park price for these O. E racks or a link in brisabne (not currently there yet)

I would guess O.E. would be more expensive than aftermarket (last lot I bought were around $400)and, the range of accessories for aftermarket is far superior. Thule and Rhino are a nice areodynamic profile which makes them much quieter. That, and the O.E. are so ugly, it hurts my eyes to look at them...
