Duncan we really need you there by 8.30 at latest....all the scruits are volunteers and we want to get it sorted by 9am so we can all enjoy ourselves.

I was going to run slicks too but I'll just bring some semis as well in case the weather changes.

Cheers, thanks for that. 8.30 it is.

hey I spied your gtr at UAS

you gonna bing it out for the day?

sure am mate, we're not going to miss a chance to give it a run around Oran Park when there are so few chances left. It will be a good chance to run it after the rebuild because UAS have changed a lot of bits, not just the engine.

Plus if it is damp, I love the practice. There are very few wet track days in Aus, but Targa Tas almost always has 1-2 wet days so I need the practice.. plus you learn heaps about car control on damp days.

Depending how things go, we might bring the new car as well to see if it has enough power to get right around the track

im glad someones excited about the wet......weirdo.

i have enough trouble in the dry lol. semis still the go Duncan?

yeah still run semis for sure, as long as they have a fiar bit of tread. Don't run semis with low tread on wet days they are a "handful". Also some semis are better than others, a048r are good, v70a/dz03 are OK, re55 are average. All still better than road tyres though

.....just need to be a little more careful on the throttle and smooth in the corners....both of which are what we should all be practicing anyway :)

BTW I'm not convinced weather will be an issue tomorrow, bom.gov.au says:

Forecast for Saturday

Rain periods, possible moderate falls.

Sunday A few showers.

This means that most likely we will have 50-80% dry sessions, and a couple might be damp depending on where the shower are in sydney.

The SLot Car is ready to go, for it's last time at Oran Park. Duncan just left with his sorted GTR. Noddy made it down form Qld, and just checked his yellow beast on the dyno, and a quick car to watch tomorrow.

www.weatherzone.com.au say 18c top and 7-% chance 1 to 5mm showers tomorrow, so should be ok and much better tahn hot.

I played golf at Camden Lakeside this morning (about 3km from Oran Park) didn't have a drop of rain all morning and the roads were dry. Get back to Penrith and its constant drizzle.

Now... time to put my car back together and see if it works :)

if it "is" wet in the morning, perhaps get everyone to go out following the leader getting a "dry" line ?

just an idea - but its not going to rain anyway :)

guys need advice

so I got my front tyres replaced todayas my stockies were gooooone

the moron who did my alignment farked up the job, the steering wheel tilts slightly to the left obviously it will have to be rectified

the bloke had a go at it three times before he said come back later which would have to be next week

I had other things I needed to do, definitely won't be going back there, they were close by where I bought my tyres and didn't have time to take it anywhere else as most places were either closed or had a half day

so...

the steering wheel does tilt to the left a bit BUT the car drives straight, tested on the highway and no play in the steering wheel at different speeds and the car brakes straight without any wheel shudder

should I be right to run tomorrow?

Yo-Yo - thats a very common problem, the mechanic often doesn't set the steering wheel dead centre before making the adjustments. Your alignment is fine you just have to put up with driving with a steering wheel not sitting straight. Took me about 5 different workshops before I found a guy that would do it properly first time every time.

NizmoMan - No helmet hire.

Dave: Scrutineering will be 8-9am, driver briefing at 9am upstairs then start after that (last time it was about 10am, hopefully its quicker this time). Just get there at 7:30am to give yourself plenty of time to prepare your car so that soon as the driver briefing is finished all you have to do is put your helmet on and strap yourself in.

see ya'll tomorrow guys!

looks like I'm leaving the slicks at home but it will still be a good day.

Please get there 7.30-8am if you can to make it easier for the scruitineers to get through the cars. And if you get there at or after 8.30 don't expect to run in the first session. And finally....don't forget its an hour earlier due to daylight savings *ugh*

As per the posts above, because we are not full, we will except entries on the day (cash only), come and see one of the organisers nice and early.

No passengers on the day, only designated instructors (they will have different arm bands). I'd suggest everyone grab an instructor for 1 or more sessions to make the most of the day.

Weather forecast is "Showers. Cloudy. " so probably drier than today. when its wet you should run 2psi more in your tyres than normal, if you have adjustable swaybars set them to soft, and if you have adjustable shocks also set them to soft.
