It seems that my new toy has decided to play games with me! So let me start at the beginning, I own a ’96 Skyline GTS-T Series II. The only mods it has are a dump pipe through to ahigh flow cat and an aftermarket exhaust, pod filter and SAFC (the first version) the turbo has not been boosted.

The story starts in Servantes (250k’s north of Perth) when I tried to start the car it would turn over, start and stall straight away. Eventually with the accelerator half way to the floor I managed to keep the car running and went for a short drive. The problem did not seem to re-appear from the next 24 hours…

The next time the car misbehaved I was driving back to Perth and the car started to stutter and miss (quite worrying 200k’s from the nearest mechanic who would have any idea what a Skyline actually is!!!!!) The problem was quite random in that the car was stuttering whilst coasting down hills and whilst overtaking road trains, so it happened both under load and at pretty much idle.

Since I have returned to Perth it has been to 3 mechanics, none of whom had anything that they could pinpoint for me. The problem is getting worse! One of the dodgy mechanics even had the nerve to charge me $50 and tell me that it was loose wiring that they had sorted for me. It only took me 300m from their premises to find out that I had been ripped off! The other mechanic (Steve at SST) was great he looked it over chucked it on the dyno found out the car was severely hampered by detonation issues. He suggested that I have the injectors tested as the car was running very lean.

So far I have done the following:

· Cleaned the AFM

· Had the injectors tested (they are fine)

· The spark plugs are 3000k old and gapped as recommended by Steve

· Reset the ECU

· Knock sensors exchanged with known to be working ones

Before I take it back to SST I was wondering if some of the good folk on the forum could suggest some things I could try to reduce the scope of problems that it could be. I am hoping to get my hands on a series II AFM that is know to be working as well as trying some coil packs.

If anyone has any other suggestions for me I would be most grateful.

Oh and I have done numerous searches and found lots of similar problems and solutions but none seem to be quite the same as mine. Please HELP????

had a similar prob with my car found that the plugs had been changed to standard type,(not platnuim)and because of the larger electrode size more voltage was need to create a spark, so the coils had been arking between the top of the plug and the coil creating a miss fire. Also the under bonnet temp roots the coils and that stupid cover on top of the coils has to go, more heat, more resistance, less spark!

to beat the leaning out prob i brought a after market fuel presure regulator cranked the pressure up to 45psi

hope that can help u out a bit, but a question for u? have u had the speed cut removed if so witch wire do i chop, Also tryin to find out if my car has a "speed signal wire" so i can hook up a Greddy full auto timer, finding it hard to get hold of a wiring diagram. My car is a 1990 R32 GTS-T type M :headspin:
