Headlight Alignment, Who Can Do This, Or Can I Do It.

Hey Yall,

My headlights are pointing into the ground lol. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who can align them properly for me, or if anyone knows of a good way to align them. I know how to move them, but im not sure where they should be, I can mess with them and make them sort of level, but I want them straight.

can you turn a screw driver?

there are a couple of screws on the back of the head light assembly.

these change the direction the bulb is in relation to the reflector, one will move it up and one will move it down.

pretty simple, then just align on the wall at home (back fo the garage)

there is a set of rules you can use on DOT's website in relation to roadworthy set up (ie. this many metres from the wall it should shine up this high etc)

should have two screws - one to move it up/down and one for left/right

cover the light you are not adjusting and away you go

ps the little gears that make it work are small plastic ones so be gentle - they are a little fragile

(on my 32's half of them are stripped)

Why do people not read my posts on this forum before posting. I said I know how to move them, what I don't know is where they should be at. Col do you have the website with the rules of where what should be?

so this page refers to the legality of "blue" lights aka xeon or A/C powered balast type head lamps...

just incase you put some in and this is why you want to adjust them down...

and this page is the head lamp "road worthy" bit your looking for...

and i quote "The lights must be adjusted to comply with Rules 81, 82 and 83 of the Australian Vehicle Standards Rules 1999"

so click on this second link and then hit find, rule 81 and go from there...

in short, low beams need to light up 25 metres in front of the car, so you may have to use the road and a long measuring tape to get it right...

I cant seem to find the old chart i had from tafe showing the height up a wall and distance back from wall, I think it was 3 metres from wall to headlamps and they need to shine 1m high...

As in the tops of the lights need to shine no higher than 1m up the wall at a 3m distance, make sence?

Just use the road and measure up 25m if unsure...
