Hi all,

After a few weeks, I have finally got my act together and put my car up for sale properly! :)

I have started with listing it on carsales, which also puts you on car point - etc.

Does anyone else have any other ideas or advice in regards to selling a GTR? Apart from listing it here on the forums! haha

Being a specialist car, I guess you need to ensure you are targeting the right audience.

Those who have had the experience previously selling a GTR, please share your advice! How did you sell it, how long did it take - etc.

Cheers.

Best Way? Convince the buyer its a 32GTR :-)

Jokes aside, I think carsales/carpoint are by far the largest site at the moment so i would stick with them. Just be patient. I sold 2 V35's through them and it took a couple of months but got the price i wanted and not a cent less.

Most important thing - Price it correctly.

Don't dream on about some unrealistic price, you'll see a dozen and then some cars listed on carsales.com.au (and various other sites) that are far too high for what they are.

Price it well, it will sell.

Otherwise be prepared to have it up for sale for 3-6 months as there is no shortage of GTR's on the market, never is a shortage really.

If you have it for sale for 2-3 months with out any serious interest then you clearly have not priced it well and you simply have to wait - meanwhile the overall price keeps dropping... so makes sense to price correctly.

Also dont say "I'm willing to take offers lower blah blah", just price the car at the price you will sell for. EG. Don't price it $3000 higher than you will take. People won't even ask.

Correct pricing generates much better interest and will sell much faster everytime.

They are hardly a 'specialist' car. Specialist would be a Ferrari/Lambo. R33 GTR's are a dime a dozen.

Just because its kinda-limited, doesn't mean much to a buyer unless they are an enthusiast and you'll be waiting for a while for those kinds of people if it doesn't sell right away.

:D Yes , I do agree .

Cheers for the advice guys - much appreciated!

Have listed it on car sales, will see how it goes! :P

If it had been the factory dark blue i would've snapped your arm off for it!

  • 1 month later...

Just an update to this thread!

Car sales premium ads definately do work.

The car sold in less than two weeks to the first genuine buyer that called, and I had 3 others lined up for if the deal fell through!

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
