Car: R32 Gtst manual

Mods: Only has a high flow turbo and a cat back exhaust

Situation:

Ran car hard on empty, had no option to put questionable unleaded fuel in – Ever since doing this, have had major problems with car.

Symptoms:

Car has always been hard to start cold, however ever since running car empty and filling up with unleaded, when the car starts it has a lumpy idle (until at operating temp) and wants to stall when pulling up to traffic lights (but doesn’t).

Car also feels like I am towing a trailer and once it hits operating temp you can feel a surge and almost like a weight has been lifted from the car. Coughs, splatters and honestly feels like I’m driving a car with untuned webers – Until operating temp.

I have since been running the normal premium fuel (normally Shell) and still runs like rubbish – I had in innocent in Brisbane CBD where the car stalled and would not start – Blocked filter perhaps?

I have changed the filter and have been running injector cleaner for roughly 200kays – It now has no issues at all at operating temp, when cold is another story.

The fuel filter that was pulled out of it, was full of gritty sludge (understandable), I have had a few suggestions:

- Grit has damaged injector? – Doesn’t explain why car works at operating temp

- Has got water in the tank from rubbish fuel – Doesn’t explain why it works at operating temp

- Stock BOV

- ALL factory recirc and return lines are in place

- AFM has been replaced with known working one

- Plugs are in working order

- Fuel pump is in working order

- New fuel filter

- Only ECU error code is throws is something re: auto (Car is converted to manual)

Any insight into my shitbox would be great

thats blows man.

its weird cold runs shit then good warm alot of preoblems other way around.

the bad fuel might not even be related just happened same time.

check all ya vaccuum hoses and replace if can, do all intercooler connections up tight, check intake for any leaks.

then id throw bottle metho in tank to take out any condensation and litre of diesel just to reseat some things.

good luck with it

Cold Start Valve? It's the "torpedo" under the throttle body. Should be a clear path through it when cold, blanked off when warm.

Would cleaning it be the same as, say cleaning an rb25 one?? (saw a DIY for rb25s on here).
