Hi, im gettinga viper alarm, and just wondering if its worth the extra $100 for the key thing the beeps when you within a mile or so when you cars alarm is triggered?

thanks :) just want some opinions :)

Nick. :(

I currently have the alarm key that beeps and lets you know when alarm is triggered, is meant to go up to a mile but has never really worked. I park not too far from work......800m, but alarm was tripped one day and didnt even let me know so I ended up with a flat battery...waste of money imo.

Cheers, Brad.

viper = poo poo.

dont jerk yourself over crap like remote start and those gay pagers. get a decent alarm with all black wiring and three point immobilisation. what a joke to pay more than $300 for an alarm, albeit a shit one.

stick to what you know :banana:

by the time I finish doing the install on an alarm its WELL over that cost. 99% of the alarm issues people face are installer f'ups. range on the DEI products is in idea conditions and line of CLEAR sight. average is 800m or less on them. want more range buy a GSM pager. dont think that works right - sell the car and buy a shitbox :cool:

i was only referring to the alarm on its own, installation by a proper fitter will always be above the cost of the unit....

many DEI alarms retail for over 300, and they dont do anything better than a mongoose m80....

thanks for clearing that up. if you read it as I did the end user expects a 300 installed alarm. (mind you there are some that expect alamr and install for $100- yeah right!)

only thing I like about DEI is the extra channels on it. makes life a LOT easier with staging things and controlling odd things (IE bus folding doors, convertible tops.)

I've used directed brand alarm products since damn near the companies inception for installs,, never had too many issues with hardware, only installs from hacks causing problems

warranty service is top notch

the pager remote is good but is a tad large, pricing on extra ones is a tad high as well

use GSM /Sat nav tracking for the best security but I think we have covered this many times,

only use a good installer who takes pride in his work, not a cheap install on a expensive alarm ????

right Chris and Jack..lol ?
