hi all,

recently purchased a V35 skyline coupe which I'm hoping to collect friday. Checked the wheels and tyres that were on the car and surprised to see that the owner was running 245/40 18 all round.

Now I know this isn't healthy for the car in the long run, so with the least amount of cash ...what is the best way to get proper specs....do I go with 225/40 18 on the fronts and leave the rears...or 265/40 18 rears...or what other size tyres (looking for a more common size which is usually cheaper) can i get without having to replace all 4

cheers

225/40/18 to the front will keep the VDC happy and your speedo too.

Your front o/all wheel diameter is out by 2.5%. Adding 265's to the rear will put the rear out by 2.4% which will make your speedo read 100kph when you are actually doing 103kph.

It's not unhealthy for the car from a mechanical perspective.

It's just that your TCS/VDC will behave strangely, which is only really unhealthy for the car if you need those electronics to keep your vehicle out of other objects.
