Price drop 4K eh????

That mean your now looking for about $8000.00 now?????????

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I think you should take the 2K offer because that's about what it's worth.

The condition of the paint work makes it a BARE METAL RESPRAY and they are expensive, if it's going to be brought back to it's former self. 5K Plus for this, not to mention the replacement cost of the necessary panels & the lower front skirt which is only available ex Japan.

I purchased my Paul Newman version coupe for $5000.00 and it is in very near perfect condition and many streets & blocks ahead of this car you're trying to sell. I also bought a genuine DR30 coupe in lots better condition than yours for $3400.00, so I still say your dreaming thinking of anything near the figure you expect.

I also know of the 2 other Paul Newman cars in Oz & I could buy both of them for less than $8000.00 each and they need absolutely ZERO work to be done to them, as they are now in excellent condition and what's more "THEY ARE RARE".

Don't listen to MAG86, he's just blowing wind up your ass, import or not, your car needs a LOT of TLC and other than the L20ET motor, it's just another R30 sedan which are a dime a dozen.

You might be well advised to take any offer around $2000.00 before you're calling SIMS to come and take it away for free.

Cheers, D

the price is $4k total.... much more money has been spent on this car and the only thing it needs is a paint job. - so if you spend $3-4k on paint you'd have an exceptional car for less than $10k

Note to Ghostrider: F off you old tool! you got a good deal on your paul newman and that would have probably been around the same time i bought mine nearly 8 years ago so get over your self.....

no RWC

but i can tell you what it would need...

washer bottle for wipers (i took it out when i move the air filter but still have the water pump/motor and hoses)

remote swich for the horn (the boss kit for the wheel doesn't meet the brass pin for the horn)

rear demister switch (it burnt out)

new fuse for the hazard lights (burnt out the other week i think)

don't have the time to run around to wreckers to grab those things at the moment but all would be easy to find and put in yourself

Just a question and a free bump... Your gallery pics include:

pretty much original except for whelding up the stock bleed value and putting a damn loud blitz BOV on

Can it get a roadworthy with welded bleed valve, BOV and pod filter?

cheers,

JH

factory bleed valve was faulty and would have cracked the mainfold to remove and refit a new one and the air filter is semi inclosed and can easily be turned into a full contained box if need be

if i got a RWC would you consider making an offer..

car is obviously fully complied, and has current registration in vic. When i changed over the plates from QLD to VIC all vic roads wanted was the chassis/vin numbers and the rego was simply changed over.

not sure what the rules are in vic but i would have thought someone could just have the rego and ownership changed into their name and all would be apples.

Hi Dave,

There are two ways to change ownership..

1. Transfer the rego and ownership with a valid RWC. The RWC has to be done by a licensed tester. Sometimes the seller pays for the RWC or the buyer might agree to pay for it.

2. You hand in the plates (and maybe get a refund on part of the reg) and sell it unregistered. The new owner has to then get the car re-registered which requires an inspection. Not sure if Vic Roads has to see the car or if they'll accept a RWC.

cheers,

JohnH

an inspection was needed if i didn't have the vin/chassis number handy. It was thought to have the FJ20 motor in it due to a f**k up when it was originally imported... It was thought that a 2.0 badge on the boot meant FJ not L20 so you may be able to slide an FJ in there with minimal hassles.. The original owner in Brisbane who imported tried to have it changed but no joy and back then four bangers were cheaper to rego so he gave up... Same thing happened to me when i first had it insured it was on Shannons books as an FJ same as rego and no one wanted to change it so meh...

I'm sure i'll be able to get my hands on an RWC if you'd like that easy of mind for a rego/ownership transfer

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
