I normally just pay my rego renewal before its due

...maybe thats just me? :)

yeah good one, so when you pay early and still have to wait ages for the sticker to arrive in the post (while passing the expiry date of the current sticker) how does that still not apply to this situation.

Obviously he's paid, it's the fact the coppers are a joke and don't know their shit

If you have paid well before the rego expiry date and it arrives before the expiry date, then I suppose you have 2 valid options:

1. Put it on and remove the old label; or

2. You have up to 21 days after the expiry date to remove and attach the new one.

Though, if you have paid early and it arrives before the expiry date, to save yourself hassle, put the new one on otherwise the cops will find some excuse to book you, and then you have my situation.

If you have paid before the expiry date and it arives after the expriy date, then you have what is stated in the legislation.

Not all cops are ill-informed about their own job, most I have dealt with seem to be alright (I actually live next to one - non-traffic), like the community its the minority that seem to make a negative impact. If those in the minority would get off their little podium and start acting like respectable members of the community, we would have a better system.

My last one took 2 days to arrive in the mail. Only way I can see not having a sticker in time is leaving it till the last minute to pay.

...of course, I was just stirring sh*t. hence the ":P" emoticon

same thing almost happened to me but i told the flamin mongrelstable to jam it not quite my words but u get the drift, i hate cops who just try ping people for the sake of it.

Was this today or another time? Did you refer him/her to the legislation?

thats pretty funny/f**ked up.. stupid cop

reminds me of a story I heard a while back, a friend of mine didn't stop completely for a stop sign, boys in blue spotted her, pulled her over and fined her..

she ended up not paying the fine because of the way he worded it, something like "driver performed a rolling stop".

Because she couldn't make sense of that statement I guess she couldn't be fined. She could have been spinning crap - I do like the story though.

Thats true, but again, it is the legislation that governs both us the public and those policing it. BTW, by indirectly forcing them to check your rego on the database, what does that do?

By forcing them to check it they can see when it expires or if its paid. They cannot fine you if you say its in the mail and you've contacted dept of transport, because they can check that.

  • 2 weeks later...

They will withdraw the fine as they will realise after confirming with a snr officer or dept of tport that they cannot fine you when your rego is paid unless it is without a doubt you cbf'd putting the sticker on ie 1 month+ into the new term, even a retarded flamin mongrelstable will figure that one out

    • Hi everyone, I’m Dave from Canberra. Here's a few pics of my 1992 R32 GTST coupe which I imported back in 2006. Only mods so far are HKS Hi-power cat back exhaust, K&N filter, ATC Volanti steering wheel, Pioneer stereo, amp and sub. This was my daily driver up until 2015 and sadly hasn’t been driven at all in the last 5 years due to marriage, work, and kids taking up most of my time and spare cash.As such its in need of a bit of TLC and one of my goals for this year is to get it back to running condition and maybe look into club/historic rego. I’ve joined SAU so I can ask a few questions along the way (although I promise to google Current Problem +SAU beforehand!)
    • From talking to the mx5 guys the NC doesn't actually need bonnet vents like the earlier NA and NB models, due to a better designed cooling system and undertray design There's plenty of them used as street cars and weekend track toys running anywhere from around 170 to 250kw with stock non vented bonnets, I initially was going to get some bonnet vents, but, as they are not actually required, I'll put vents on hold for a while and just monitor temps, though I do need to get something to actually monitor engine oil temps though, coolant temp can be pulled from the OBD2, but the oil gauge in the car is not actual oil temp, it is only a calculation based off coolant temp and RPM ☹️ They do recommend upgrading the radiator, which I have already done with a triple pass, and the only other thing they recommend for a street car is heat management, like I talked about above to protect bits in the engine bay from radiant heat, and to either replace the nearly 20 year old plastic coolant expansion tank, which I have done, or get a aftermarket alloy jobbie for some bling They did also say that if I wanted to track the car on occasion a oil cooler and sump baffle would be required, and as I already have had a sump baffle installed when the engine was out......... I'm going to get a oil cooler with a thermostat....... just in case I do eventually track the car, but probably not, but still maybe...🤪
