Theres something in my airbag steering wheel that sounds like its swinging around.

When moved either left or right it 'clocks' around, and sounds like metal hitting metal.

Its progressively gotten louder, so somethings probably coming loose.

Something else that cant be a coincidence. Last weekend my horn would go off whenever I turned the wheel, I had to pull the fuse, maybe the loose part is shorting something?

Anyway I'll be getting it checked next week, anyone got any ideas on what the mysterious noise would be? I hope it hasn't damaged the airbag.

When I first got my Skyline, the horn button was acting up and there were some funny noises in there. Mine is a non airbag model.

When I pulled the cover off the wheel, I discovered that the plastic insert for the centre of of the steering wheel was in about 4 pieces... I reckon the last jap driver was a cranky man and used to bash on the horn ;)

I just reassembled the part with some Araldite and had forgotten about it until now...

HTH

Thats funny, sometime last year i got really pissed off and hit the wheel alittle too hard.. Try 20 pieces! So i did the dodgy and removed the plastic bits and filled up the space with double-sided tape.. Makes beeping the horn as spongy as a pillow!

I do intend on fixing this............ ;)

The broken horn thing on these cars is a very common problem. I keep having to remind myself when I want to bash the horn button after some bastard cuts me off!

Its getting sorted tomorrow, dunno what it is yet though.

I've never wanted beep so many dickheads, as I have in last week!

There is a vibration absorber in the steering wheel which is suspended between rubber buttons. Sounds like the rubbers have broken. You can fix it with silicon rubber tubing.
