What Is This Part?

Cleaning up my engine bay in my Cefiro, didnt know what this part, disconnected it and drove round for a bit with nothing operating different. Removed it to make room for my new header tank...

It had an elect loom that led to a wiring loom and a vacuum line that led nowhere. It was located on the drivers side strut tower as seen in pics...

Anyone know what it was for? and if it is need?
