There will be no flex between the strut towers thats for sure!!!!

Hey Jack,

I have modified every other facet of the car except the interior, so the interior will be the final area to concentrate on and then I will definitely do no more, I hope.

Lots of carbon and leather planned for the interior .... by Robson Design Jp and Recaro to give a higher quality ambience.

Also installing a double DIN Pioneer Sat Nav which has been sitting in its box for over 6 months.

Cheers

Matt

Just to prove how nuts I am with my GTR, I did end up buying another strut brace released by Cusco.

Out of production Cusco full titanium one piece construction, weighs under 1 kg. If the Autoselect one were in the heavyweight division; this Cusco one would belong to feather weight.

Look at the signature bluish hue of the Ti welding. Absolutely top notch craftsmanship!

Cusco laser cut trademark in the centre

I know I am crazy about JDM stuff!

Saw Matt and this beast again yesterday at the SAU VIC BBQ. Cannot get enough of it!!!!

It surely attracted attention and many did not believe the power figure it pushes due to it looking so standard under the bonnet.

So many people were just standing there in a 'trance', the effect this car has just sitting there is something else...

Can't wait to see the interior!!!!

And to think you were going to sell this a little while ago, Matt!

A masterpiece.

Just got delivery of a few rare discontinued 'miscellaneous' Nismo items from Yahoo Japan, thanks again to Import Monster.

Item:

Nismo 4 point harness made by Willans

Production 2002

Belts in signature shining silver adorned by those Nismo 'badge of honor'

Belt width 2.5"; Clubspec version

NOT FIA approved. Only FMVSS

Suitable for Club use

Two versions:

Rotary aviation type central locking mechanism

Normal belt buckle type locking mechanism

Pictures gentlemen:

dscf0341u.jpg

Anything Nismo costs heaps MORE than normal. I mean normal Willans Clubspec harness cost less than $300 each; you don't really want to ask how much I paid for these Nismo ones. I guess I am a sucker for anything Nismo.

Which brings onto my next 'useless' Nismo item:

wtf: see photo

Yes, a genuine imitation electrical kill switch in the cigarette lighter plug!

Nismo goodness for the interior! More to come.....

You have exelent taste...

Nismo harnesses will set off the robson leather nicely.

Oh... and unlike Tiger- don't go to re-hab just yet.

J.

P.S. Who did your rocker covers? and what finish is it?

keep up the goodness. love the nismo harnesses. I found 1 brand new about 2 years ago and they were rare as fk even back then and I paid a shiatload for it. hate to think what they go for now. especially in a pair with 1 quick release and 1 seat buckle type.

glad to see you're still going and still having fun.

Rocker covers painted with VHT wrinkle spray out of a can. Fairy simple DIY. Make sure you spray it in warm ambient temperature as degree of wrinkle is dependent on temp.

Nismo released a full 3 inch width harness last yeay, again in limited supply. RRP is over 90,000 JYP!!

I cannot justify that sort of costs, so hunted some second hand ones from 2002.

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

So Matt what was the final word on the harmonic balancer - did you end up giving racepace a call?

Just in the process of getting parts together for my own Racepace motor. Not going to be quite as wild as yours, staying with 2.6, new N1 block & 33 crank, Racepace rods & pistons, tomei pump, N1 water etc. Also going for that 9L sump extension like yours - was good to get a geeze at it from your pics.

    • I am currently going this route. I am curious how much horse power you put behind the cut bell housing? Collins was telling me I am going to crack it and bluh bluh bluh. Because I didn’t buy the custom fly wheel from him. I am looking for somewhere around like 500 hp
    • Forgot to mention that these are the before pics when I first got it!
    • Thanks @PranK for the updated member status, much appreciated! 👍🏼 Now, about those pics… Unfortunately I could only find ones that I took in the dark. I was soon to discover that underneath it wasn’t in the best shape, but it was mine and that’s all I cared about at the time 😆
    • Oh, and only having done this task yesterday, I've now driven the car ~60km since, and while it is hard to avoid placebo effect and confirmation bias, I reckon that some annoyances I had with the way the car has been behaving have improved. Which....kinda makes sense, I guess. If the bushes were really stiff and resisting rotation, they would have been contributing to the effective wheel rate. And if it was more so on one side (which it was, because one side was worse than the other) then.... you might imagine that the additional rate would be asymmetric, and potentially even different between compression and rebound. And so... the car has been twitchy at higher speeds - like freeway on ramps. It really shouldn't be. The wheel alignment is good and there are no (other) known problems elsewhere in the suspension. But at 90-100 on a long sweeping ramp, tiny steering wheel motions would make it feel like it wanted to rear steer. Quite nervous. At lower speeds it would heave about in a manner that it didn't use to. Didn't want to put power down, etc etc. Now...seems to behave better. Am going to have to concentrate on the various corners where it has exhibited weirdness, on the rare occasions when I can get a decent run at them without Methanial getting in the way in his D-Max/Ranger/LDV Van/etc.
