M35 Brake Upgrade

I just bought a set of R32 GTR brakes, with dba rotors, to fit to my M35. I have heard I will need to fit a spacer for the bolts on the front, and the rears perhaps wont fit, so I will document my brake mod for you and see how I go.

I cleaned the calipers and found a crack in one of the dust seals so they will need a seal kit, and one of the fronts is missing the pins that hold the pads in, but I got them cheap. What would be the best place to get these pins and retainer? Nissan?

The rotors needed a cleanup so I machined them on the lathe.

read down towards the bottom.

P.S. Rears don't fit.......but let me know if you make up something to get them to fit....I would probably be interested in doing it.

cheers

Craig

No worries Craig, I will try and make a rear bracket once I get the fronts on and sorted. (Actually I may have to fit them all together as I want to flush the fluid for dot 5.1)

The rear disk looks about the same size so pads should work well.

yeh rear pads looked like a perfect fit over the rotor from memory.....it was just mounting them that was the problem.

have fun....pretty easy job doing the front as long as you have the right tools.

Can I ask a question....why DOT5?

Ive always run 5.1 in my bikes, and I have a liter just sitting around. I also have 4 liters of dot 4 though, which i could use too.

I know dot 5 doesnt like 4 or 3, I had experiences with the rubbers expanding and leaking if not washed out well with metho.

How did you go fitting the rears?

Will they fit?

No money, no time...

I have to kit all the callipers first which means blasting and painting them, once cleaned and kitted, get the bolts and make spacer, then get the braided lines. The disks are off getting anodised at the moment.

I will test fit the rears next time I get a chance, If they dont look like fitting easily I may just install stainless lines and leave the standard rear callipers for now.

chances are the rears will fit no problems. danny got rear Z33 (actually all round) brakes on perfectly!

Not if they are R32 rear callipers. It's the mounting points that are different.

Where are you getting your braided lines Scott? Are the ADR compliant?

No Idea yet, I have made my own before, but I havent seen anyone selling the crimped ADR ones for the m35.

I will have to either do the ring around the manufacturers or import. :P We should get a group buy going.

What about ADR approved lines for a Z33?

I think I can recall Danny saying that the lines fitted no problem.

Unique Autosport used to do a kit with 325mm discs and brackets for s14- s15, gt-t's ect. Seeing the caliper PCD is the same on the Stagea, that would be an option. Can't remember prices, but wasn't terrible, considering it came with discs as well.
