Self Cancelling Indicators?

Hi recently bought a 1993 r33 gts (without an owners manual) and i noticed that the indicators dont turn themselves off after you turn. Just wondering is this normal for this car because self cancelling indicators have been the norm in cars long before the r33 was released.

Anyone know?

Yeah mate, they are supposed to so chances are something in the indicator stalk is broken.

Take off the column surround and unscrew the stalk, disconnect wiring, watching as you pull it out for any broken bits that might fall somewhere. Then have a good look at the stalk and its mechanism and see if you can see anything that doesn't look right. Its kinda hard to explain what to look for.

All else fails, just go grab another stalk from a wreckers and chuck it on and see if they cancel out then

do you have a stock steering wheel? if its aftermarket, then you'll have an after market boss kit on it, and some of them don't click the indicator off

or hicas? likewise with the boss kit for a hicas/non hicas boss kit
