To cut a long story short i was being a dick and lost my licence for a year. I'm wondering if i should just leave the car sitting in the garage for a year or start it up and get someone to take it around the block once a week. Car is leaking coolant and clutch is nearly gone so i was thinking better to leave it sitting until i get my licence back and then get these things fixed up.

Any issues with letting it sit there for a year? Anything i should do before hand and after?

If the aircon still works, I would start it up at least every month and run the aircon for 5 mins so the seals don't dry out.

If it is going to sit, there for a year, before I would disconnect the battery. After; the oil will need to be changed, fuel tank drained (as the fuel will be long stale) and put fresh fuel in the tank

Before storing.

- Change oil

- Change coolant - most important

- Change brake fluid

- Give the car a good wash and wax

- Have around 1/4 to 1/2 tank of fuel - this will allow you to fill up with better fuel once you start driving again.

- Slightly over inflate the tires to prevent the tires from deforming - Check the pressures 1 a month.

- Start the car for around 15 minutes once every month - rev it up lightly during the last 5 minutes.

Hope this helps

Cool, the aircon works so i'll definately do that.

Oil was changed 2,500km ago. Does it still need to be changed? The car is leaking coolant somewhere so is there any point changing it? Is it a corrosion thing?

I was just thinking of letting it sit there for the year and then change the coolant and oil once i start it up again. Bad idea?

Had my GTR sitting in the drive for over 9 months.

Just put new fuel in it, charged the battery and started it up. All was fine. Let it warm up at idle, then switched it off and changed the oil + filter.

Then, threw it on the dyno to check to see the fuel pump isn't nearly dead, etc.

Now she's good as gold.

GTR's have a plastic fuel tank, though. So I didn't need to worry about that rusting through.

I never pumped up the tyres, changed coolant, started it up, turned on the air-con, changed brake fluid, etc.

    • Evening fam, Pretty much what the title asks, I have looked all over and can’t find a proper answer expect one post from almost a decade ago which is vague. ive seen photos and they look pretty much identical, would an r33 GTR N1 reo work on an r32? reason I ask is they are cheaper to buy… $700 compared to 1k+ for an r32 n1 reo

    • Yeah was thinking that. I've had the car go lower idle possibly around 650rpm every once in a long time after pouring fuel and would sound quite rough like a misfire, almost like it's shit fuel or something but who knows.
    • @Wazmond you are correct, my bad, was not my intent    https://www.facebook.com/share/15ZMn5oXtc/ Updated Event (so its not private and can be shared easier)  Attempting to coordinate a big push of Stagea's to this years GTR Festival. Great event last year and hoping for the same this year.    I've emailed them to ask to set a location aside for the Stageas for the show and shine - they are happy to do so if we can get them numbers, I'm happy to keep track of that. Entering as Nismo category.    I'll be road tripping up from Melbourne, would be cool to convey if people are interested, maybe there is SAU convoys from each capital? If you have ideas about that let me know.    https://gtrfestival.com.au
    • Just buy a bunch of covers off aliexpress, they're like $5 each. Rattle-can them and stick them on as needed/fly off.
