You can buy FM transmitters which connect to your iPod and play the audio on an FM frequency which you tune your car's radio into. There is another variant which allows the iPod to be played directly through the tape deck.

Has anyone tried either of these options, and if you have, which one and was the audio quality any good??

Well i've tried both before i ended up changing the whole system to a double din setup. I have to say both offer mediocre quality audio if you're the fussy type.

But i guess it's the cheapest way to do it :)

I think i read up somewhere on G35Driver Forums about the adapter called PA11-NIS to hook up the ipod to the factory stereo. But i don't know if it'll work here.

Wait and see what Chris Rogers have to say about this.

tiger,

easier way is to buy a AUX in lead and run it up to your centre console. the FM idea is really a waste of $$. stations will come in ovr the top of the ipod, dropouts and terrible sound.

call me if you do not follow :P

I've used both in my Z33. It was a stopgap solution when the stock head unit's CD player died, before I got a new deck.

The audio quality is shit (although that shouldn't bother you if you're still using the supplied iPod headphones) in either option. Through the tape deck you get massive amounts of hiss. Output via the FM adapter sounds muted, and since the signal power is so weak any little thing interferes with the signal.

Also, fiddling around changing the tracks will probably get you accused of using a mobile phone while driving if you're spotted, and the cops will probably book you despite any protestations.
