what got us into these japanese works of art????

i was 11 my sister had just told me that she had a new boyfriend

i wasnt to keen on this idea but i quickly changed my mind once i heard the rb

engine roaring loudly from 3 streets away . as he rolled down the street in the 32 gtst

slowly with the engine purring the hairs on my neck raised intrigued by this merciless

sound and the sharp lines from bonnet to boot i was in awe of this beast. after 9 years of riding in this

200kw weapon i now was now on my way to picking up my soon to be brother in law in

my r33 gtst with a smile from ear to ear and i have moved only forward cause everyone else is behind me... :)

haha yeh think i might have to play that game tonight lol cant wait till forza 3 comes out but yeh that was the game that made me want a skyline then my mate bought one back in 2000 when there wernt many 33s around i went in it and absolutly loved it and nuffins changed since then!

:P

...sent my son down to the local car shop to look for a Zoom-Zoom

...and he came back with a BR-O-O-M-BR-O-O-M :D

...well at least the advert for a neat Midnight Purple R33 GT-R :D

A friend of my bought a S13 through Prestige Motor Sport and then he showed me the price of a R32 GTR, they were going for relativity quite cheap and so I waited for a few years longer and finally got one.

For what you pay and the performance you got was great.

Just a shame the less powerful GTO would absolutely ass rape it in a straight line

I spent many many hours tweaking the gears ratios to compete with that thing. Annoyed the hell out of me.

But back OT... Same. The GTR in GT1 got me into them

GranTurismo 1 ftw. I remember when I was like 5 or 6, going to my mates place to play his PSone. On the rare occasion, his bro would let us touch, then use his memory card (with the best cars you could get in the game :P). GTR was then set forever and ever ;)

It certainly wasn't love at first sight for me

I was never a car person, cars flew completely under my radar until FnF came out at the movies, although I now look back in shame, to a hormone fuelled punk teenager like myself at the time this movie was a wet dream and it triggered my interest in imports

I wanted a supra (back in the day p platers had no restrictions), but they were too expensive for me at the time so an unassuming silver R33 caught my eye at the car lot and the rest is history

I've now had 3 skylines and a 350z

I'm having my mid life crisis now so I don't have to look like a tool having a mid life crisis later on :P

oh, and inital D - gunmetal 32 ;)

Thats what got me interested in skylines & cars in general.

Too bad in the show the dude who drives the GT-R sucks, he lost every major race we see him in (3 in total; vs AE86, vs FD3S, vs EVO 4) & ends up crashing the car twice (in the AE86 & EVO 4 race) :P

My mother was co-driving in one in Targa Tas, and the guy took me for a run down the road in his road R32 GTR, Was already pretty obsessed (Sound, Group A racing etc) and the way that it just came into a corner and the back sat out, and just ripped itself out of the corners.. Then going for a ride in Morg's 350+ atw monster (RIP) and the way it would step out in 4th gear, accelerate sideways, and not once feel like it was actually going to let go

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
