we had timers setup the night before for racing, would have been a first for Georgia but some idiots drifted over the wires and it fried the timing gear. I managed a 12.6 quarter the MPH is not recorded and when i recorded this time it was about 1am and cold and the track was damp and slippery.

The "Georgian" rules works like this, here are 4 classes and they race in classes. You take a number from a hat to work out when you race. You have to win 2 out of 3 races then the loser gets knocked out and you wait till the next round. Once you have your race you have to turn around and drive down the track back to the start line to start again. This is not drag racing, its more like street racing or kiddie racing or something... The guys were complaining so much about the timed racing but we ended up racing their way anyway and I still won.

I have never seen anything like this before, at the start there was around 100 or more people around the start line, if i lost it i would have killed at least 5 or more people for sure so I was pretty nervous the whole time as well.

After I won I wanted to race a car and we were trying to get everyone off the track, it was amazing watching the idiots in the slow BMW's try and drift around the track and try and do skids etc etc.. was soo dangerous and so un-organised that i was expecting a big accident or something...

There was no ambulance or fire crews present, nothing. If there was a accident then it would have been pretty bad but amazingly there was no accidents or anything.

The mentality of people here are so different to us Aussies, the street racers here kinda remind me of primary school kids playing marbles or something... After a race there will be a big long discussion about the race and why the winner won or why the loser lost and they will talk complete and utter bullshit to try and make up excuses why they lost.

If there is a fast car here and he has won 10 street races, if someone beats him then the car that beats him is now faster then all the cars the loser has beaten before. This amazes me! its gospel here and everyone believes it 100% its just the way they think here.

People here don't race to have fun, they race to be the BEST, they race to have something to prove and they live for their car. One guy I beat on the street a few days ago was sooo stressed and soo upset it looked like he was about to cry or pull out a gun and start shooting.

I cannot explain all what is going on here but I can tell you that it is a f**king experience I tell ya.

Yeah well it must make you wonder if some loose canon will cut lose with the hardware and put a hole in you . What are the firearms laws like over there .

Just don't forget where the best lil "sirens" AND steaks come from .

Cheers from Oz .

Here is another project we have been working on. Georgian made Forged Pistons for RB25DET

We have a factory here that used to be the biggest Soviet Factory back in the day and once Georgia broke away from Russia the factory has not been very busy. Guram knows many people here and what do you know, one of them is high up in the factory and is willing to make us anything we want if we provide him with all the information he needs.

So I decided that we go with a flat top piston that goes off the standard Nissan design piston for RB25DET. Few weeks later the pistons were ready to install.

With these pistons we used stock size with stock Nissan rings and we used the standard pins as well.

These pistons were standard drop in size for RB25DET, we ordered a brand new set of rings from Nissan (Imported from Australia) and we assembled the engine and got it running.

I could not believe that they actually worked. We ran the pistons in this engine for about 600km's and about 40 runs on the dyno, I really punished this engine pretty bad to the point where it blew the turbo charger so thats when the testing stopped for now. Soon we will be putting on a turbo similar size to a GT35r and will be pushing it even harder.

The pistons are heat treated at T61 as many other Piston Manufacturers use for their pistons but the aluminium used with these pistons does not expand untill 340deg which is about 100deg higher then the aluminium being used on forged pistons that are being produced. This aluminium costs a fair bit more and is stronger but the production costs are lower especially when we get them made in bulk.

After we test these we may be able to sell them for around $600 - $700 aud for a set, export to Ukraine and Russia and Europe is the market we will be focusing on to start with unless we see a big demand for these in Australia.

Engine is still going strong, its been in there for about a month but the car is not running because the turbocharger is destroyed.

Here are some pics

I am currently working on RB oil pump gear replacements for stock RB25 & RB26 oil pumps. They will be made out of the strongest steet we can find. I will be replacing the gears in my N1 oil pump as well in the near future.

That is just amazing man. Great work on that. I would be keen to buy some rb30 pistons and some real strong oil pumps gears for when you get it all going  Might even grab two sets of pistons just for spares at that price. Have you guys done anything with rods? I wouldn't mind seeing how a set of rods would go How are the weight tolerances on the pistons?

A great story GT and congrats on having the balls to take a risk and move to the other side of the planet to do something that you love rather than something you begin to loath (IT 9-5).

Continue to update us with your adventures but PLEASE include some photos of the local women. Eastern European women are gorgeous!

Thats bloody awesome. Sounds like your doing well mate. Good luck with it, and keep up the good work. GT performance pistons?

def sounds like a crazy place, some sort of super hoon paradise.

Missing home a bit today... Australia Day!

So been listening to this a few times and having a drink for the best country in the world....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbGuqmaDgLA...feature=related

Happy Australia Day everyone! Aussie's have no idea how good they have it.. honestly.

Chuck a extra couple of snags on the barbie for me... drink a few more extra dry's..... Have a good day :D

Post some aussie day bbq pictures in here for me... would make me smile =)

If i could i would...

They do not even know how to kill a cow here... Cannot get snags or decently prepared meat....

If i buy beef and try to BBQ / Cook it... when its finished its as hard as big piece of leather... I think it has something to do with the way they are growing / killing the cows here.. They leave them till they are very old or something... and kill them a different way i just dont know.. But its just impossible to make a aussie style BBQ here..

If i want aussie style bbq then i will need to find out how they are preparing the meat back home and then go see a farmer and ask him to do it the same way and then il probly have to buy a whole cow for myself etc etc.... hmmmm might be worth it you know! lol

any butchers on the forums? im sure they would know what the go is... over here you dont need any qualifications to do any kind of trade so anyone can be anything they want legally so it kinda kills the quality of things if you get what i mean.....

So yeah... would love to see some pics :D I will share em with my friends here....

So have a B-B-Que and show them what an Australia day is all about.

dont know if georgia has the same sheep as syria, but look for sheep with a very fatty tail. shish kebab the meat with the fat and eat. its delicious. kinda like the arab version of bacon.

well done on the move!

Hahhahaa! Yeah okay :)

Not sure about the oil pump gears.. we been busy with the local business and have not been doing anything with products to export etc etc but we will need to soon i would think !!!

Wow man you are living the dream!, any idea on how much oilpump gears would be? and we need some pics of the ladies :D

hey mate...just finished my breakfast stubbie (woke up, walked straight to the fridge and cracked a cold one with sleep still caked in the corners of my eyes)...got to go to my mate in Brisbane's house to instal 2 x Mitsubishi split system air con's...bbq lunch...then off to Taneh Merah (sp*) for an arvo swim and more beer's...off to workshop to prep the car for racing tomm. and bbq dinner with a good dose of anti-lag fireworks to finish off with.

Can you do a remote tune ?

Hahahhaa!! SHIRT MAN!! =)

Sounds like a hot QLD Aussie day is on the cards for you!! Drinking some coopers i suppose?? =) I wish i was there to share one with you and to supervise the twoogles touch up's for the big day tomorrow....

I know you will spoolin some anti lag fireworks goodness to a PB time for Twoogle....

remote tunes?? are you serious? I think I have to hand my duties over to Marky Mark for this one =)

Miss ya man - I would really love some pics... really love it...

    • Yep super expensive, awesome. It would be a cool passion project if I had the money.
    • Getting the setup right, is likely to cost multiples of the purchase price of the vehicle.
    • So it's a ginormous undertaking that will be a massive headache but will be sorta cool if pulled off right. And also expensive. I'm sure it'll be as expensive as buying the car itself. I don't think you could just do this build without upgrading other things to take the extra power. Probably lots of custom stuff as well. All this assuming the person has mechanical knowledge. I'm stupid enough to try it but smart enough to realize there's gonna be mistakes even with an experienced mechanic. I'm a young bloke on minimum wage that gets dopamine from air being moved around and got his knowledge from a Donut video on how engines work.]   Thanks for the response though super informative!
    • Yes, it is entirely possible to twincharge a Skyline. It is not....without problems though. There was a guy did it to an SOHC RB30 (and I think maybe it became or already was a 25/30) in a VL Commode. It was a monster. The idea is that you can run both compressors at relatively low pressure ratios, yet still end up with a quite large total pressure ratio because they multiply, not add, boost levels. So, if the blower is spun to give a 1.4:1 PR (ie, it would make ~40 kPa of boost on its own) and the turbo is set up to give a 1.4:1 PR also, then you don't get 40+40 = 80 kPa of boost, you get 1.4*1.4, which is pretty close to 100 kPa of boost. It's free real estate! This only gets better as the PRs increase. If both are set up to yield about 1.7 PR, which is only about 70 kPa or 10ish psi of boost each, you actually end up with about 1.9 bar of boost! So, inevitably it was a bit of a monster. The blower is set up as the 2nd compressor, closest to the motor, because it is a positive displacement unit, so to get the benefit of putting it in series with another compressor, it has to go second. If you put it first, it has to be bigger, because it will be breathing air at atmospheric pressure. The turbo's compressor ends up needing to be a lot larger than you'd expect, and optimised to be efficient at large mass flows and low PRs. The turbo's exhaust side needs to be quite relaxed, because it's not trying to provide the power to produce all the boost, and it has to handle ALL the exhaust flow. I think you need a much bigger wastegate than you might expect. Certainly bigger than for an engine just making the same power level turbo only. The blower effectively multiplies the base engine size. So if you put a 1.7 PR blower on a 2.5L Skyline, it's like turboing a 4.2L engine. Easy to make massive power. Plus, because the engine is blown, the blower makes boost before the turbo can even think about making boost, so it's like having that 4.2L engine all the way from idle. Fattens the torque delivery up massively. But, there are downsides. The first is trying to work out how to size the turbo according to the above. The second is that you pretty much have to give up on aircon. There's not enough space to mount everything you need. You might be able to go elec power steering pump, hidden away somewhere. but it would still be a struggle to get both the AC and the blower on the same side of the engine. Then, you have to ponder whether you want to truly intercool the thing. Ideally you would put a cooler between the turbo and the blower, so as to drop the heat out of it and gain even more benefit from the blower's positive displacement nature. But that would really need to be a water to air core, because you're never going to find enough room to run 2 sets of boost pipes out to air to air cores in the front of the car. But you still need to aftercool after the blower, because both these compressors will add a lot of heat, and you wil have the same temperature (more or less) as if you produced all that boost with a single stage, and no one in their right mind would try to run a petrol engine on high boost without a cooler (unless not using petrol, which we shall ignore for the moment). I'm of the opinnion that 2x water to air cores in the bay and 2x HXs out the front is probably the only sensible way to avoid wasting a lot of room trying to fit in long runs of boost pipe. But the struggle to locate everything in the limited space available would still be a pretty bad optimisation problem. If it was an OEM, they'd throw 20 engineers at it for a year and let them test out 30 ideas before deciding on the best layout. And they'd have the freedom to develop bespoke castings and the like, for manifolds, housings, connecting pipes to/from compressors and cores. A single person in a garage can either have one shot at it and live with the result, or spend 5 years trying to get it right.
    • Good to know, thank you!
