im sure if the car has it you can use it and its covered under warranty. but honestly launch control is a load of crap. i got 3.3 to 100 without using it, sure thats after a few mods. before mods we were getting 3.6 easy, again without using launch control. i dont know what you need it for?

I hear what you are saying, but did you actually try launch control and what times did you manage? I reckon you should go faster without it (if used properly).

To answer the OP, yes it is there, if you use it (with VDC on) i believe you are "covered" - however if you do like 30 launches in a session (for example) i am sure that would probably constitute abuse and you would be rooted if you broke something. Common sense applies.

So how do you use it with VDC on ? It is not covered in the Owners Manual. I'm not that interested in using, just understanding how it is used.

100% brake, then smash the accelerator (hard) whilst keeping brake engaged. Revs should rise to 3000rpm, then release brake.

I thought only the first models released had it, and that it was removed for the S2 and Aus models cause of the load on 1st gear causing breakages.

I remember reading in either Motor or Wheels mags a while ago about it.

The first JDM and US models had the 4800rpm (VDC-off) launch function, call it "LC1". It was soon revised to the VDC-on capable launch, which all ADM cars have, call that "LC2". Cars in the US had LC2 offered as a reflash/revision by Nissan service depts. You can read all about the hundreds of people who have had the reflash done, on nagtroc, for example. Incidentally quite a number of tests with LC2 out-performed LC1, go figure.

This 3.6s intrigues me, the reason I ask is:

The best I have managed is a 3.9, that was last week. Only mod is a mid pipe.

I would love to meet someone who is doing consistent sub 4 second times (in a stock car) to see what I am doing wrong on the launch. Whilst most of my fun is on the track, I do have the performance box fitted and love testing the car for things like 0-100.

How are you measuring your 0-100 times?

I appreciate that you now have a few mods on the car, however I am still curious, because your times seem to be far better than what most people are achieving.

Cheers.

Gibbo.

Agreed LC is slower to 100 and our times were over 3.6 using LC. when we (09 GTR) and i use launch control the car tends to bog down of the line momentarily. this is because the car falls off boost for a split second before then taking off. The trick to a good 100 time is as everyone knows a great launch. So try gearbox R mode auto, VDC R mode or Off (prob better off), left foot brake holding reasonably firm but not too hard that the pedal is on the floor - smash the accelerator and as boost builds side step the brake pedal - what you are trying to do is release the brake at the same time revs are building and the engine is coming on boost, this gets the car off the line better doesnt bog down as much and should give you a better time. Dont hold the brake so hard that the pedal has to come right off the floor - that will bog down as well - you just almost want the car in a stall position and then catch the engine coming on boost thats the key. Anyhow this has worked for us so maybe give it a go, its a bit tricky but try a few times and see if you can nail it. Have to ask 09GTR what timing device we are using? Greddy? not sure.

i've got the best result with LC2 in my ADM R35. 3.2s to 0~60mph (with cobb installed).

We have been using a GTech RR pro device. I find that releasing the break as the tacho is still moving (upwards) just before the peak of 3000 rpm is the go, if you get it right you'll get a little wheelspin.

I'm recording very consistent 3.1 seconds. Probably broke 3 seconds when I went to the drags but didnt have the Gtech that night.

When the car was stock I would get 3.7 - 3.8 every time using LC2. White 35 got similar results.

Gibbo, a question - how much fuel is in your tank when you test your 0 - 100 times? A gutful of fuel would slow you down.

Really? hmm. I wonder why.

How did you go at Oran Park, do you have any lap times? Pics vids?

Duncan, I haven't set myself up with a video recorder yet. Let me know what you find best. I wasn't recording lap times on the day as I knew my brake pads were on the way out (de-laminated), and I was just trying to finish of a set of very worn Bridgestones (so I was taking it easy). Subsequently I have put new brake pads in, and am getting the Dunlops fitted tomorrow. Also with a 37 degree day I didn't want to flog the beast too much (as it was I had to turn the boost levels down given the high intake temperatures)...I will try and get in for one last Oran Park session before it closes to get a lap time.

Ok, I've sorted this launch control 2 business. Here's the go. You put your left foot fairly firmly on the brake. Then with all the speed and power you can muster, smash your right foot through the floor (well at least it should feel that savage, so much so in fact that when I did it with socks on it hurt my foot), if you really nail this movement, revs will rise to 3000...and keep rising... to 3400 rpm. Then take you foot of the brake at light speed.

No delay.

No stalling.

Just pure action.

Result? 0 - 100 in 2.9 seconds.

Yep.

Good stuff. Was that with the new tyres? Also, was the 2.9s run with VDC on?
