Vin & Engine No.

Hey guys,

im picking up my R34 on friday but iit just occured to me this morning that my VIN and Engine number do not match. does this mean that the engine has been swapped in japan??? thanks.

Also, i have had the VIN fasted and it all matches up, but now im unsure bout the engine.

The VIN is: ER34010313

Engine number: RB25-292468A

VIN # and Engine # are two different things. They will not be the same number.

The VIN # is the Vehicle Identification Number and is also referred to as the Chassis number.

The Engine # relates to the engine only.

as far as i'm aware they shouldn't match. the reason being that the VIN number specifies things such as model, variant and some options. the engine is just what model engine it is and then a build number

one more question, what do i need to look for that indicates if its the original engine?

If you get a "fast" of your car then it will tell you the engine # of the engine that the car came out of the factory with.

Cross check those to the actual engravings in the engine bay, if it matches fast then it should be the original engine. I forget where the engine # is engraved... but from memory it was not all that easy to find but it may be different for r32 compared to 34 etc.

ummm, i don't ever recall fast showing the engine number of the car.

and after looking through the fast thread i can't find anything either. but i will have a play around on fast leter on and see if i can find anywhere in there that shows it

it doesn't show the engine number, your correct mad. im fairly sure its the original engine though
