it doesnt matter where the hell u can afford to live! just because u may live in the tip-top end of town doesnt mean ppl arent guna knock cars off from around your area.

you can also look well into ppl installing your alarm but how are you going to now if there up to something or not?? And im sure if they really wanted to knock of your car that they'd break into your lock up shed and roll your car out the dooR!

Oh yes, yes it does. It's the biggest factor when it comes to car thefts. Why do you think imports are knocked off in bogan areas on an almost daily basis ? Look at the shire in Sydney .. leave an import out of sight for 2 hours and you can say good bye to it. Don't even get me started on outter west / southwest Sydney with a million unemployed bogans.

Lithium ..parking it off the street where a tow truck can't get to it would be a start. I never park mine anywhere on the street unless it can't be helped. Also not living in a shitty part of the city helps because not everyone is pre occupied with how to steal cars or f**k people over in general.

My car was stolen from outside my girlfriends place under lighting in a respectable area of Wellington on a bit of a one off situation where I left it on the road for a little while - no off road parking there and you know how it is with unexpected "conversations" with the missus. Definitely not the normal, and trust me - I am very careful with the car. Very much a case where the one time you drop your guard even a bit, you come back out and the car is gone. And by say "drop my guard" the car was locked, alarm armed and it had an immobiliser.

One of my mates cars was stolen recently from a locked workshop when it was in for panel and paint work - what wisdom are you going to offer, he should have anchored it, done character references on all employees (and their friends) of the shop, put up bars, maybe some concrete fences around the outside of the shop and hired security for it?

You sound like the type of person who would say a naturally good looking girl had it coming to her if she was raped... I have very little time for car theives and anyone else who makes a victim of people living their life day to day. You sound like you have more contempt for the victims than the thieves. Seriously, your input has not been asked for by anyone I have seen here - and it definitely hasn't been anything more than an annoyance.

Oh well, if you've done everything you can and it still gets stolen, what the f**k can you do ?? That's what insurance is for.

I don't have contempt for the victims I'm not sure what gave that impression. I've just seen too many instances of skylines being stolen and then posts on SAU like this one and when asked about alarm / insurance its usually "oh I was about to do it soon".

In the end, what the f**k is anyone here going to do about it ? It's a matter for the police and even they have close to no chances of finding it if it's gone straight to a chop shop.

On a related note .. GPS tracking isn't so expensive anymore. I paid about $500 extra for a simcard module that sends me an sms if alarm is triggered plus I can track it to within 50m of its location. Something for everyone to consider if their car is irreplacable. Look I'm not trying to be unsympathetic but I'm not sure what purpose threads like this serve .. are we all supposed to be on the look out for the 20 odd skylines stolen every month ?? Unless its a joyride theft, chances are it will never been seen by anyone again and your only recourse is to go through the insurance company and hope they pay out. And then consider additional security such as gps tracking before getting another one..

I hope the OP finds his car but I'd say chances are slim.

the purpose of this thread is if someone happens to try to get offered spare parts from my car and they may by chance have read my thread and think twice and inform me so the f**ks that stole can be caught up with!!!!!! thats why there is engine and vin numbers smart asre!!! yes the chances are slim of finding anything but if you do nothing, nothing happens!!! now please stop causing argumentative comments and waist everyones time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry, didn't realize I had to get your approval before posting a comment. It's a discussion forum so there's a discussion relating to thefts, get it ? Your opening post is still up there and no one's gonna miss it, if anything further comments only ensure it stay near the top and doesn't get buried in a day or so.

So chill the f**k out.

It is a discussion forum, but this post isn't a "Lets discuss car thefts" its more like a "PLEASE HELP!" - this is a discussion forum and we don't have to ask permission for our posts, but showing a bit of courtesy shouldn't be a tall ask for most reasonable humans. I guess the world is full of good and bad people, otherwise we wouldn't have car thefts.

a lite hard to chill at the moment dennis if you didn't think about that comment once again! you really are bored aren't you posting all this negative arguementative gargbage.......pleeease quit it.

Yes I did think about it actually ... I just don't understand why you're jumping on me like I stole your car. So your post lead to some discussion about thefts .. far out, it's not gonna affect the outcome of your plight in any way. Hopefully it helps some others realize what if anything they can do to prevent this happening to them.

anyway I'm gonna leave it alone .. good luck finding your car.

Gotta say if you want a cheap security option which makes ppl look in n go f*&k that then get a decent quality steering wheel lock (club lock). Also if you park it with the front tyres on hard lock with this it wont stopp pplz towing it away but may atleast draw some attention or piss them off a bit...

But that switch for the fuel pump also sounds like a good idea.

Sorry to hear about your car mate all the best with it. Id throw up a please help or keep an eye out topic if my pride n joy was taken.

and in my case the PROFESSIONAL who install my Viper System was the one who knocked the car off.. How do you over come this?? When they obviously pre-plan the theift and obviously done it b4?

Easy - dont let them know where you live. If its a mobile service, use a mates place....
